SPORTS BRIEF: OPRA rowers take medals at Budd Inlet

OLYMPIA — Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association rowers competed in the Budd Inlet 2022 races, part of the Sound Rowers series.

All three boats won their divisions and competed in the short course of 3.5 miles.

Sean Halberg and Lizzy Shaw won in the Flatwater doubles division, with a finish time of 27 minutes, 36.3 seconds.

Teig Carlson, 12, won in the open water single II division with a time of 36:28.2. Edward Gillespie, 14, won in the open water single III division with a time of 32:52.1.

There are OPRA programs for adults and youth aged 12-18 available through the summer. People can go to parowing.org to learn more or contact Sean Halberg at rowwithopra@outlook.com.
