PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School baseball team gave up only one hit en route to a 9-0 shutout of Mount Tahoma in nonleague baseball play Friday at Civic Field.
Sam Gay started the game on the mound and picked up the win for the Roughriders (3-0).
Nick Borchers went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and scored two runs; and Matt Lane had a two-run double for Port Angeles.
The Roughriders play their first Narrows League game on Monday at Olympic.
Eatonville 5, Port Townsend 4
PORT TOWNSEND — The Redskins lost a close Nisqually League matchup that wasn’t decided until after eight innings Friday.
Port Townsend (1-2) got five innings of two-hit ball from Keith Johnson, who relieved starter Troy Cate.
Jeremiah Fountain went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Keith Johnson was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Marcus Logue and Seth Orr drove in the other two runs for Port Townsend.
Chimacum 10, Vashon 0
CHIMACUM — The Cowboys dominated the Pirates in Nisqually League play Friday. The game was called by mercy rule after six innings.
Adam Freitas went the distance on the mound, giving up only one hit in the shutout
Alex LeMay was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Chimacum (3-0 in league, 3-1 overall).
Zac Garten went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Marcus Moug had a triple and two RBIs, and Jesse Minish had a triple and RBI. Sam Evasick was 2-for-4.
The Cowboys had seven stolen bases. Freitas threw only 54 pitches, striking out five and walking one.
Orting 9, Sequim 6
SEQUIM — The Wolves committed eight errors in the Nisqually League loss Friday, letting a 4-0 first-inning lead quickly get away.
Sequim scored once in the bottom of the seventh inning and had two men on and the tying run at the plate when a strikeout ended the game.
Aaron Petroff was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Wolves (2-2 in league, 3-2 overall). Cory Warn went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Tommy Iverson, John Prince and Chris Keithley each had a base hit and RBI.
Jim Coley took the loss for the Wolves, who are off until April 9 when they play at Chimacum.
Forks 1, Rochester 0
FORKS — The Spartans’ Wayne Daman pitched a complete game shutout, giving up only two hits and striking out 13 on Friday.
He walked two in the Southwest Washington League victory.
Professional scouts from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles and Colorado Rockies were on hand to watch Daman, who has signed a letter of intent to play at Washington State next season.
