PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles junior catcher Zoe Smithson was named Olympic League MVP in voting by league coaches.
Smithson posted a batting average of .608 with 31 hits, 20 of them extra-base hits, including a team-high seven home runs, five triples and eight doubles. She scored a team-high 27 runs and drove in 25, also a team high.
Smithson was joined on the team by Roughrider teammates including junior pitcher Teagan Clark, senior shortstop Jada Cargo-Acosta, senior first baseman Ava Brenkman, junior utility Taylor Worthington, junior outfielder Emi Halberg along with freshman Natalie Robinson.
Clark posted a 9-0 record with a 2.50 ERA. Cargo-Acosta hit .468 with one home run, 22 doubles and 14 RBI. Brenkman batted .510 with three home runs and 16 RBIs. Halberg hit .424 with five RBIs and 10 runs, and Robinson hit .459 with six home runs and 22 RBIs. Worthington hit .442 with one home run, 14 RBIs and 10 runs.
Sequim selections included junior third baseman KK Lopez, catcher Christy Grubb and outfielder Lily Fili and freshman utility player Taylee Rome.
Forks all-leaguers
FORKS — Four Forks softball players were selected to the Pacific League All-League team in voting conducted by league coaches.
Spartans senior pitcher Chloe Leverington was a first-team pick along with freshman infielder Elizabeth Soto.
Forks sophomore catcher Kyra Neel and junior outfielder Aspen Rondeau were named to the second team.
Senior infielder Kray Horton along with sophomore second baseman Kadie Wood and third baseman Keira Johnson earned honorable mention status.
Forks head coach Traci Kratzer was selected as Coach of the Year. The Spartans went 11-2 and advanced to the district championship.
