PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles senior Hope O’Connor tossed a perfect game in her final outing at Dry Creek Field in a 13-0 Olympic League win over Kingston on Thursday.
“Hope didn’t allow a runner to reach first base and struck out six batters,” Roughriders coach Randy Steinman said. “Madi Roening made a spectacular catch in right field during the first inning to get the perfect game started.
“Jada Cargo made an amazing back hand at shortstop in the final inning to preserve the perfect game.”
Steinman said O’Connor faced three batters with three ball counts but struck out all three to preserve the perfecto.
“Hope had complete control of her pitches and would get ahead in the count with her screw ball and finish them off with her drop ball,” Steinman said.
The Riders play a nonleague game at Class 3A Gig Harbor on Monday to close out the regular season.
Port Angeles (9-3, 11-7) and rival Sequim (9-3, 12-4) will play a tiebreaker for the Olympic League’s No. 2 seed to the West Central District tournament at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe’s Billy Whiteshoes Memorial Park.
The No. 2 seed will face the South Puget Sound League’s No. 8 team in the first round of district play while the No. 3 will play the SPSL No. 6.
Those games will be held at noon Friday at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.

BREMERTON — The Wolves broke open a 6-6 tie by scoring seven runs in the final two frames to top the Knights.
Christy Grubb led the Sequim attack going 3 for 4 with two home runs. Isabelle Dennis added three hits and Kiana Robideau, LeeAnn Raney and Jayla Julmist had two hits apiece, including a homer for Julmist.
“Lots of extra-base hits with no outfield fence,” Sequim coach Tim Lusk said.
Dennis pitched four innings before Kylynn Stringer came in for the final three, shutting down the Bremerton bats, according to Lusk.
