SOCCER: Peninsula College women remain unbeaten

KENT — Peninsula College’s women soccer team kept up its stout defense by swamping the Green River Gators 3-0 in Northwest Athletic Conference action.

The Pirates (1-0, 3-0) have yet to allow a goal this season, and have scored eight of their own in three games.

Sophomore midfielder Paxton Rodocker, a Port Angeles High School product, broke open a scoreless contest in the 32nd minute of Tuesday’s game with a goal off of an assist from sophomore attacker Alyssa Bertuleit.

Bertuleit kept up her strong play, adding another score just four minutes later off of an assist from Tasha Inong to give Peninsula a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Paige Mahuka added the third goal for Peninsula in the 82nd minute off another Bertuleit assist.

It was Bertuleit’s third assist on the season, tying her for first in that category in the NWAC.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kasie Lough has recorded two shutouts for Peninsula, tied for most in the conference.

The Peninsula men and women visit Whatcom for a doubleheader Friday.

The women play at 3 p.m. and the men start at 5 p.m.
