NORTH BEACH — The Forks boys basketball team bounced back from a rough road loss earlier in the week, taking care of business Saturday against North Beach in a 62-35 victory.
The win left the Spartans at 6-3 and third in the Pacific 2B League, behind Ilwaco (8-0) and Chief Leschi (7-2).
Coach Keith Weekes said he liked how his players bounced back after the Raymond loss Thursday.
“We’re in a bit of a logjam. We put ourselves in a bad spot with that loss to Raymond,” Weekes said. “Last night, we were better.”
Weekes was also pleased that the team shot 100 percent on its free throws.
“And that was five different players who shot free throws. It was nice to see that,” he said.
The Spartans were led by Aiden Salazar, who scored 14, while Titus Rowley shot 100 percent from the floor, including a three-quarter court 3-pointer at the buzzer to finish with 12 points. Brody Lausche scored 10.
The Spartans (10-6 overall) have a tough nonleague game at 7:15 p.m. today at home against a red-hot Neah Bay (8-3) team that has won six in a row.

Renton 64, Port Angeles 56
RENTON — The Port Angeles boys basketball team went toe to toe with a solid playoff-bound squad from Renton, but a 6-0 run by the Redhawks in the fourth quarter iced a 64-56 win for the home team.
The Roughriders had a lead in the third quarter in Saturday’s game and were within one possession of Renton with four and a half minutes to play.
“It was a great game. We were playing one of the best teams in the state,” said coach Kasey Ulin. “I thought our guys fought hard and shared the ball well.”
The Riders shot 71 percent from two-point range and were able to outscore Renton in the paint. He said Renton’s pressure did bother the Riders at times, as Port Angeles committed 22 turnovers.
“Our shot selection was great. They capitalized on a lot of transition baskets,” he said.
Parker Nickerson led the Roughriders with 26 points, while Isaiah Shamp had 14. Gus Halberg scored 10.
Port Angeles (6-2, 10-5) next plays Olympic (0-7, 3-9) at home at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

NEAH BAY — The Neah Bay boys basketball team won its sixth straight game 64-41 over Coupeville on Saturday.
LeAnthony Jimmicum led the team with 13 points. Seactis Woodruff scored 12 points and pulled down nine boards, while Tyler Swan had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Makyah Chambers scored nine and Daniel Cummings eight.
Neah Bay (8-3) plays at Forks at 7:15 p.m. today.

SEQUIM — The Sequim boys basketball team fell to a tough 3A team in Bainbridge 67-56 on Saturday.
Sequim was led by Charlie Grider, who had 14 points. Keenan Green added 11 and Lars Wiker hit a pair of 3-pointers for 10 points. Mason Rapelje had eight.
Sequim (3-6, 8-7) has its third straight tough Olympic League game Tuesday, a road contest at North Kitsap (8-0, 11-3). Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

Cascade Christian 81, East Jefferson 59
PUYALLUP — Cascade Christian got off to a fast start over a short-handed East Jefferson squad and went on to win 81-59.
Coach Emmanuel Abbott said the Cougars got up 27-8 on the Rivals and never looked back. The Rivals were playing without two of their important starters, Stuart Dow and Cash Holmes. Holmes has been battling an injury and Dow had a prior commitment.
“It was tough game. That is one of the top eight or nine teams in the state [The Cougars are No. 8 in RPI]. We didn’t have the firepower to get back,” Abbott said.
Traycen Brown led the Rivals with 12 points, while Keidan Guzman scored 11 and Aiden Stepanski 10.
Still, with the loss, the Rivals sit in the middle of the pack in the Nisqually League at 4-4 (5-5 overall).
East Jefferson next plays at Seattle Christian (2-9, 3-10) on Tuesday.
