RUN THE PENINSULA: Railroad Bridge Run returns Saturday

SEQUIM —The sixth annual Railroad Bridge 5K/10K Run will take place beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Railroad Bridge Park in Sequim.

The Railroad Bridge Run is the second race in the Run the Peninsula Series that takes place along the Olympic Discovery Trail. The event is run by the Port Angeles Marathon Association, which also puts on the North Olympic Discovery Marathon in June in Port Angeles.

This event is made possible by title sponsors Peninsula Daily News and the Sequim Gazette, as well as presenting sponsors Sound Community Bank and Olympic Medical Center. Proceeds from the event goes to several local organizations, including the Peninsula Trails Coalition and Dungeness River Nature Center.

About 425 participants to run and walk west on the Olympic Discovery Trail starting at Railroad Bridge Park and then turning around at the 5K and 10K turn around and head back east towards Railroad Bridge Park.

The Railroad Bridge Run 5K / 10K event has the right of way at several intersections. Motorists should be prepared to stop at the followoing intersection from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday: Heath Road and Sawmill Road, Runnion Road and Sawmill, Carlsborg Road and Olympic Discovery Trail, and Kitchen Dick Road and Olympic Discovery Trail.

There is still space available and peple can register at www.runthepeninsula.com. Registration will close at 9 a.m. Saturday.
