ROWING: Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association and Sequim Bay Yacht Club compete at Olympia Regatta

OLYMPIA — The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association crews found success in the Budd Inlet Regatta in Olympia last Saturday.

The team of Alex Francis, Page Phillips, Quinn Peterson, Haverly Peterson and Noah Oberly finished second overall on the 4.9-mile short course, and first in their division, with a time of 50 minutes, 59.3 seconds.

Owen Standerwick, Kai Erskine, Eagle Zuniga and Danielle Woodhouse finished third overall and were also first in their division, completing the course in 55:13.3.

Kim Missal and Bridget Hazeyama were sixth overall and first in their division with a time of 1:27:24.3.

On the 8-mile long course, Frank and Carolyn DeSalvo of the Sequim Bay Yacht Club finished fourth overall and third in their division with a time of 1:09:25.9.

James Lesniak and Steve Hawley of OPRA finished eighth overall and first in their division with a time of 1:23:50.6.

Day of Play

The rowing group will be busy Saturday participating in the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department’s Day of Play until noon, then hosting the third annual Port Angeles Coastal Regatta on Sunday.

Both events will be at Hollywood Beach.

The Day of Play is open to anyone seeking to try rowing and learn more about the program.

OPRA provides programs for rising fourth- through sixth-grade students, seventh- through 12th-graders and adults.

Sequim Bay Yacht Club’s Row for Hospice will take place on Sept. 13 and is open to rowboats, kayaks, paddleboards, inflatables and shells.
