PORT TOWNSEND — More than 800 runners hit the streets in and around Port Townsend on Sunday in the 2023 edition of the Rhody Run, with familiar names at the top of the leaderboards.
Runners came from as far away as Sioux Falls, S.D., and Alexandria, Va.
Seamus Fraser, who has run for Port Townsend track and field and cross-country, won the 10K with a time of 35 minutes, 22.56 seconds. Coming in second was another familar name, Port Townsend City Manager John Mauro, last year’s winner of the North Olympic Discovery Marathon. Mauro took second in a time of 36:13.35.
Paul Smith of Olympia finished third in 36:51.08 and fourth was Port Angeles High School distance runner Langdon Larson, who posted a time of 38:48.40.
In the women’s 10K, the winner was Camille Shiflett of Port Ludlow in a time of 41:12.90. Second was Amy Craft of Seattle (44:19.43), third was Meg Klein of Fircrest (44:48.55) and fourth was Laura Moore of Port Townsend (45:09.38).
In the men’s 5K, the winner was Will Yearian of Port Townsend in a time of 16:43.51, beating out Brian Lohr of Mill Creek, who clocked in at 16:58.97.
Silas DeJarnatt of Olympia was third at 17:57.12 and Leo Goolden of Port Townsend was fourth at 18:43.59.
Lexi Conley won the women’s 5K in a time of 20:01.27, beating out Leia Larson, a Port Angeles High School distance runner, who came in second at 21:47.20. Mariah Ordonez was third at 25:29.76 and Linda Miller of Port Townsend was fourth in 26:29.35.
