REC SOCCER: Salazar Painting wins title

PORT ANGELES — Salazar Painting won the championship of the Peninsula College Soccer League, cementing the title with a 5-2 win over Windermere in the championship game Sunday.

Four different players scored for balanced Salazar. Raul Medina, Nick Allen, Edgar Aceves and Pablo Salazar all had goals. Juan Carlos, Abisai Garcia and Medina all had assists. Salazar Painting got one goal on an own-goal.

Gabe Long and Evan Swenson scored goals for Windermere, while Josh Boe had an assist.

Forks FC won the third-place game 5-3 over the Bandidos FC. Nicolas Hernandez scored two goals and had two assists. Oscar Gonzales Sr. scored a goal, while Hugo Sandoval Jr. also tallied a goal. For Bandidos, Ian Dalton had a goal and an assist, while Chema Serma had a goal and Chris Lopez scored on a penalty kick.

High Energy Metals won the fifth-place game by a 2-1 score over Strait Slice. Rick Smith and Nova Barrett scored for High Energy, while Chris Rifle had a goal for Strait Slice, assisted by Jay Marazon.

In the seventh-place game, Pura Vida beat Pantry & Latch 6-3. Ian Dalton had two goals and an assist, while Nick Namwali had two goals and an assist. Fernando Tavarez and Juan Gonzalez each had goals.

For Pantry & Latch, Mike Ingraham had two goals and Joshua Carr scored a goal.

Salazar Painting finished the season 8-0-1, while Winderemere finished 6-2-1 and Forks FC 7-1-1.

Volleyball league

PORT ANGELES – No Diggity and Killin’ It improved to 4-0 with wins in Peninsula Volleyball League play Monday.

No Diggity got past Steim Dental 2-1 (25-20, 24-26, 15-10), and Killin’ It stopped Set For Life 2-1 (19-25, 25-18, 15-11).

In the other matches, Hot Diggity downed Timber Spikes 2-0 (25-17, 25-20) and Harbinger beat Orv’s Ohana 2-0 (25-13, 26-24).
