Railroad Bridge Park Run/Walk slated Saturday

Peninsula Daily News

CARLSBORG — The third annual Railroad Bridge Park Run, the Run the Peninsula organization’s next road race, will be held Saturday with construction at Railroad Bridge Park moving the start and finish just about a mile west of the park.

About 350 participants are expected to run/walk 5-kilometer and 10K routes, which start at the intersection of Banana Way and the Olympic Discovery Trail off Business Park Loop in Carlsborg beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The race will feature a rolling start line — participants will have a pre-assigned starting window — with no more than two people leaving every 15 seconds, and no more than 200 total participants starting per hour.

The starting area will be limited to no more than 50 participants at any time awaiting their staggered starts. Additional participants must wait in their vehicles or away from the course until their start time approaches.

Both of the out-and-back courses head east to cross over the historic Railroad Bridge.

Cost for both races is $40; registration ends at 4 p.m. today at http://www.runthepeninsula.com. There is no day-of-race registration.

Fee includes a race bib, Race the Peninsula running bib belt and Railroad Bridge race medal.

There is also a virtual option for the run or other races in the series; see runthepeninsula.com for more information.

Motorists/cyclists should be aware that Railroad Bridge Run participants have the right of way on roads along the course and will need to stop at the following intersections from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Heath Road and Sawmill Road, Runnion Road and Sawmill Road, North Priest Road and West Hendrickson Road, and Fifth Avenue and West Hendrickson Road.

For more information, contact the race director at rtp@runthepeninsula.com.

Sponsors of the Railroad Bridge Park Run include the Peninsula Daily News and Sequim Gazette, Olympic Medical Center and Delta Dental of Washington.
