Volleyball Mossyrock 3, Forks 2

RAYMOND — The Spartans’ attempt at a furious comeback from a 2-0 deficit fell just shy in a 25-20, 25-8, 27-29, 23-25, 15-9 loss to Mossyrock in a winner-to-state district volleyball semifinal contest.

Forks stayed alive with a Herculean effort in the third set, fighting off the Vikings after yielding six straight points to force overtime and rallying back from a 26-25 deficit.

“I am so proud of them for battling back after losing the first two,” coach Jenn LeDuke said. “It was really good to see them fight to the end.”

The Spartans also rallied back from 18-14 down in the fourth set to force the fifth and decisive set but ran out of steam late.

Forks will face Onalaska in a loser-out, winner-to-state contest at Raymond High School at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
