SILVERDALE — Port Angeles’ Natalie Robinson homered and added two triples and pitchers Heidi Leitz and Lynzee Reid combined on a three-hitter in an 11-1 nonleague softball win over Class 3A Central Kitsap on Wednesday.

PORT TOWNSEND — Sophomore Rene Martin notched one of the fastest hat tricks in recent memory as the Rivals won their Nisqually League opener.

“Overall, I was really happy with the boys performance,” coach Logan Stegner said. “In the first half, we were connecting well and creating a lot of opportunities. We are a young team this year, and I think this win was huge for our team.”

Martin scored all three goals within 20 minutes.

“I think this game was a huge confidence boost for him. He was enjoying himself out there. It was fun to watch,” Stegner said.

The Rivals were efficient offensively, putting 12 of their 19 shots on target.

“Edu Martinez and Armando Sanchez also played great for us offensively as well,” Stegner said.

“Rylen Kruse and Grady White were connecting really well throughout the game. Their build-up play was helping us create chances.

“Defensively, Simon Barlow and Kruse played great for us. We struggled to win the ball out of the air from our last game, and these boys stepped up.”

Emilio Lopez also made some solid saves in goal, Stegner said.

East Jefferson (1-0-0, 1-1-0) hosts Bellevue Christian on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Field.
