JOYCE — The Quilcene Rangers won both ends of a basketball doubleheader against the Crescent Loggers in convincing fashion.
The Quilcene girls beat the Loggers 53-20, and the Ranger boys won 56-32 behind big games from J.J. Smith and Jake Jordan.
Smith had 17 points, 13 steals and seven assists, while Jordan scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Jacob Pleines scored nine points had seven boards and dished out four assists.
The Rangers led by 12 at half before breaking the game open by outscoring Crescent 17-8 in the third quarter.
For the Loggers, Caleb Dodson scored a game-high 24 points, and Travis Walker had seven.
Quilcene hosts Rainier Christian tonight.
Crescent travels to face the Sequim JV team tonight.

JOYCE — Freshman Allison Jones scored 21 points to lead the Rangers.
“This was another game where the entire varsity roster contributed to the win,” Quilcene coach Briana Weller said.
“The concept of team really describes this small squad’s successes on the court thus far.
“They are doing a great job of seeing the open players and working the ball around on their offensive play sets.”
Jones also had five steals and three rebounds.
Sophomore Megan Weller continued her hot start to the season with 16 points, 6 rebounds, five assists and four steals.
In three games this season, Weller has scored 74 points for a 24.7 per-game average.
Jerrica Viloria had nine steals for Quilcene, and Sammy Rae and Katie Bailey grabbed eight and seven rebounds, respectively.
“A strong defensive effort really was the highlight of this game,” Weller said.
“They prevented the Loggers from ever settling in and running an offense — 24 steals also provided lots of opportunities for quick-hit conversions.”
Quilcene and Crescent return to action tonight. The Rangers host Rainier Christian and the Loggers travel to Sequim to play the Wolves JV team.
All-North Olympic League volleyball
Clallam Bay’s Inga Erickson, Crescent’s Shannon Williams and Neah Bay’s Faye Chartraw each received All-North Olympic League volleyball honors.
Erickson was named the league’s best setter, Williams is the top hitter and Chartraw earned the best blocker award.
Joining them on the all-league team are Molly McCoy of Clallam Bay, Lauren Hartley of Crescent and Neah Bay’s Holly Greene.
Clallam Bay’s first-year coach Kelli Wilson was chosen as the North Olympic League coach of the year.
