PORT ANGELES — You could’ve forgiven the Port Angeles baseball team if a letdown occurred against Bremerton at Civic Field on Tuesday.
After repeating as Olympic League champions Monday in dramatic fashion by beating North Kitsap in their final at-bat, the Roughriders had one last league game remaining, a rainout makeup against Bremerton.
No such letdown occurred as Port Angeles went out and crushed the Knights 14-5 to finish off an undefeated Olympic League slate and win its 14th game in a row.
What a week for Lucas Jarnigan. He had the pinch hit walk-off RBI single that beat North Kitsap and gave the Riders the league championship. Against Bremerton, all he did was hit two home runs and a double, score three times and drive in five runs, going 4 for 4 on the day.
That means in Jarnigan’s last five at-bats, he is 5 for 5 with seven RBIs.
The Riders scored six runs in the third and six in the fourth to put the game completely out of reach.
Gavin Guerrero was 2 for 5 with a run and a stolen base. Timmy Adams had a double and a run and Milo Whitman had a hit, a run and two RBIs, while Andrew Pena had a hit and two RBIs. Tanner Lunt singled and scored twice and reached base twice when he was hit by a pitch. Joel Wood walked twice and scored two runs.
On the mound, Bo Bradow got the win, going four innings, giving up two hits and no earned runs while striking out four and walking none. Tyler Bowen pitched a hitless seventh inning with a strikeout and a walk to end the game.
Port Angeles finished the regular season with a nonleague game Wednesday at Class 3A Peninsula (9-5, 13-5) in a tuneup for the postseason, which begins Saturday.
As league champion, Port Angeles gets a bye in the first round of the Class 2A West Central District III Tournament. The Riders’ first playoff game will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Lobe Field at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton against the winner of a first-round game between Eatonville (8-5, 11-9) and Steilacoom (7-4, 11-8). Those teams face off before the Riders’ game at 2:30 p.m.
If the Riders win that game, they are already in the state 2A tournament. If they lose, they have to win two more games in the loser’s bracket to qualify.

Girls Tennis Kingston 6, Port Angeles 1
PORT ANGELES — Roughrider Summer Olsen went to a tiebreaker to win her singles’ match against Kingston’s Montana Thoroughman 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).
Kingston won the meet 6-1. The Port Angeles doubles’ team of Eden Critchfield and Casandra Shamp had a good match, losing to Kingston’s Sierra Denning and Emily Ramirez 6-4, 7-5.
Port Angeles (6-9) played at Bremerton (1-14) Wednesday to conclude its regular season. The Olympic League Tournament will be held in Bremerton on Friday and Saturday.
North Mason 5, Chimacum 2
CHIMACUM — The Chimacum doubles team of Renee Woods and Grace Yaley won against North Mason 6-2, 6-4 to improve to 12-2 on the season.
Madison Hess also won her singles match 6-2, 6-3.
Chimacum played Coupeville Wednesday after press deadline. The Cowboys next play in the Olympic League Tournament that begins Friday.
