FORKS — Some home cooking did the Forks girls basketball team well in a 78-26 takedown of Chief Leschi at home Thursday.
“We were rested this morning because we finally had a home game,” coach David Hurn said. “I think we played nine straight road games, so it was nice to have our second home game of the year. The girls were amped up about it, I was excited as well. And the girls came out and showed everybody what we have been working on and they must have been extra motivated to play in front of Spartans’ fans.”
Keira Johnson led Forks with 32 points.
Janessa Ramos posted a triple-double, scoring 11 points, grabbing 10 rebounds with 10 assists and six steals.
“She had a big game for us,” Hurn said.
“The most impressive thing for me offensively is we had 25 assists on 33-made baskets. That’s the most since I’ve been here and as a coach its fun to see them sharing the ball, getting out and running. We had 32 points in transition.”
The Spartans also cracked down defensively on the outside shooting Warriors, holding Chief Leschi to just two points.
“In the first half they generated some offense off catch and shoot 3’s,” Hurn said. “They only had two field goals inside the arc. So we focused on recovery and closeouts and challenged those shooters in the second half.
Forks (5-0, 11-3) visits North Beach on Wednesday.

PORT ANGELES — The Riders started strong and took game one from Klahowya, but the talented Eagles collected the rest of the points and the win.
Paige Pangaro got the Riders going in game one. Only leaving two open frames in the game, Pangaro went on to score a personal best 203, including six strikes.
“Paige showed great control all match,” said coach Becky Gundersen.
Not to be outdone, teammate Abby Robinson rolled a personal best 217 and recorded an impressive seven strikes in game two. Zoey Van Gordon and Zoey Penn each contributed a 144 in the game one win. The 8-4 Riders travel to Silverdale Tuesday for a rematch with league-leading Klahowya.
