PORT TOWNSEND — Five East Jefferson players reached double digits in scoring as the Rivals put away Charles Wright in the second half of a 71-42 Nisqually League win at Bruce Blevins Gym on Thursday.
The season opener doubled as the first game as head coach for former Port Townsend standout Alex Little.
“Boys played hard,” Little said. “We’re running all new stuff and there were a lot of instances where they weren’t as dialed in as they can be. But they got better as the game went on. The biggest victory tonight was the growth and the trust they gained in what we’re asking them to do.
“It wasn’t always pretty. But it was almost always with great effort.”
Little’s son, Asher, led the way with 15 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and a pair of blocks.
Luke O’Hara added 14 points, three rebounds, three steals and a pair of blocks.
