PREP WRESTLING: Forks grapplers have 11 wrestlers in regional finals; Sequim’s Pierson wins regional title

SILVERDALE — Forks has 11 wrestlers who wrestled for Region 1 championships on Saturday.

Results of the championship bouts were not known before press deadline.

The Spartans are guaranteed at least two championship as two pairs of Spartans are wrestling each other in their respective Region 1 weight class championships.

Wrestling in championship bouts in Region 1 are Josue Lucas at 106 pounds, Andres Santos-Delacruz (113), Cru Demorest (120) and Colton Duncan (126). Forks’ Colton Demorest and Brett Moody (160) wrestled each other in the 160-pound weight class championship, while Luke Dahlgen and Tristan Pisani are wrestling each other for the 220-pound title.

Forks’ Shane Queen is wrestling for the championship at 170 pounds as are his teammates Eden Cisneros (195) and Nate Flores (285).

Forks sent a total of 21 wrestlers to regionals, held at Klahowya High School.

Chimacum’s Ryan Caldwell is also in a championship bout at the District 1 tournament at 182 pounds.

Kiara Pierson of Sequim won the girls’ 135-pound championship at the Region 2 tournament. Sequim’s Ben Newell (138) and Jamie Schroepfer (132) are wresting for their weight class regional championships.
