PREP WRESTLING: Forks’ Duncan wins at Patriot Dome

TACOMA — Colton Duncan of Forks won his 138-pound weight class at the Patriot Dome Wrestling Classic on Saturday and Forks as a team finished sixth going up against mostly bigger schools from around the state.

Meanwhile, Port Angeles’ Scott Hedin finished second at 120 pounds and the Roughriders finished eighth as a team.

Duncan won his weight class by beating Colton Burke of Black Hills in a 7-5 decision in the championship match.

Winning the event at Washington High School was Washington.

Several other wrestlers from both Port Angeles and Forks placed in the 19-school event.

Finishing fourth were:

Conner Demorest, Forks, 106 pounds.

Andrew Santos-Delacruz, Forks, 126 pounds.

Dalton Kilmer, Forks, 126 pounds.

Josh Boe, Port Angeles, 152 pounds.

Hayden Baker, Forks, 182 pounds.

Lance Menes, Port Angeles, 195 pounds.

Finishing sixth was Carlos Rodriguez, Port Angeles, 113 pounds.

Additionally, Port Angeles JV wrestlers Ryder Miller and Corey Young won their divisions.

The Forks boys will next wrestle at the Granger Ironman Invitational on Saturday while Port Angeles will wrestle with Sequim and Klahowya at Klahowya on Thursday.

Girls wrestling Forks at Jump On In

YELM — Annhelica Wells of Forks won three matches at the Jump On In Girls Wrestling Tournament and finished fourth in her 110-pound weight class.

Wells’ teammate Karen Ensastegui-Salazar won a match and finished sixth in her 105-pound weight class.

In junior varsity girls’ wrestling, Forks’ Cristina Udave won her 115-117-pound weight class with three wins. Iesha Johnson finished second at 104-109 pounds, while Eugenia Elena finished third at 141-146 pounds and Litzy Recinos finished third at 144-151 pounds.
