PREP WRESTLING: Forks beats 2A Aberdeen in dual

Forks Spartans

FORKS — Forks earned a nonleague match win over the Class 2A Bobcats.

The 2B Spartans beat Aberdeen 48-27.

“It was an exciting event. Both Aberdeen and Forks had full lineups,” Spartans coach Kyle Weakley said.

Forks’ middleweight wrestlers had a big night with the Spartans claiming every weight class from 126 to 160 pounds, and five of those wins came by pin. They included Dalton Kilmer (132), Walker Rondeau (138), William Perez (145) and Walker Wheeler, who earned a pin 17 seconds into his match at 152, as well as Jake Weakley, who won by fall in his 160-pound match in 29 seconds.

Conner Demorest’s 11-7 win by decision at 126 and Sebastian Quenneke’s 12-8 win at 182 pounds were two of the closest matches of the meet.

Hayden Queen returned to athletic competition with a pin at 195, and Conner Earls also earned a pin at 220.

Forks wrestles at Granger, another state wrestling power, in a multi-team Saturday tournament.
