KINGSTON — Sequim lost its shot at the Olympic League North Division volleyball title with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-20 loss on the road to Kingston.
The Wolves (7-2, 7-3) will play South Division No. 2 Central Kitsap at home next Saturday in a crossover playoff game.
The Buccaneers (10-1) clinched the division title and a crossover match with South Division champ North Kitsap next Saturday.
“We went five games with them last time so we should have come away with at least one game,” Sequim coach Jennie Webber Heilman said of Wednesday night’s contest.
“The first two games we were flat. I think the girls were disappointed and in the third game we played better. We just weren’t able to get a block. They had an outside hitter who was scoring, and we couldn’t get on her defensively.”
Webber Heilman said Kingston produced more offensively, but the Wolves still had a good game serving.
“We only missed one serve through our first three games, and we played the two extra games and only missed five serves,” Webber Heilman said.
Sophomore Kendall Hastings served 20 of 21 with three aces and also led Sequim in kills with 15.
Senior Kalli Wiker served 14 of 14 with an ace and had 35 assists.
Senior Amanda Weller went 11 for 12 on serves with two aces and also added eight kills. Jayla Julmist put down seven kills and added two blocks.
Jessica Asselin had six perfect passes and four digs, and Allie Gale served 17 of 17 with two aces along with 11 digs, three perfect passes and two kills.
“McKenna Hastings served 9 for 9, with 12 digs, 10 perfect passes and three kills.
“I can’t remember the last time she missed a serve,” Webber Heilman said. “I think it’s been a couple of weeks.”
Sequim’s next scheduled game is at Olympic on Wednesday. The Wolves also have an offer out to host Bremerton on Monday, but the Knights have yet to finalize the game.
Forks wins
Forks (5-2) knocked off Chief Leschi 4-1 at home Wednesday to seal the Pacific League’s No. 2 seed to the Class 2B Southwest District Tournament.
The Spartans will host a district playoff game Saturday. Details on opponent and time were awaiting the results of Thursday contests, but the game is expected to be played at 2 p.m.
