PREP VOLLEYBALL: Sequim holds off North Mason; East Jefferson beats PA in five

SEQUIM — The Sequim volleyball team had a battle on its hands against North Mason, but the Wolves came together late to win 3-1 (25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15) over the Bulldogs.

“It was a battle back-and-forth, but in the fourth game, we played better,” said coach Jennie Webber-Heilman. She said the Wolves did a good job serving.

“Our biggest issue is passing. We need to do better passing,” she said.

Rose Gibson led the team serving, going 18-for-19 with five aces.

Kassi Monteo and Brianna Palenik each served 8-for-8, while Sophia Greenleaf served 9-for-10.

Setter Kenzie Berglund had 23 assists and newcomer Teagan Neathery served 5-for-5. Ashton Reichner led the team with nine digs. Kendra Dodson, Jordyn Julmist, Neathery and Palenik all led the team with four kills each.

The Wolves (2-0, 3-1) are off to a good start to the season with a senior-heavy squad, but they get a big test today at volleyball powerhouse Bainbridge (2-0, 3-0).
