PREP VOLLEYBALL: Port Angeles takes ninth at tournament

LANGLEY — Port Angeles finished ninth out of 15 teams at the South Whidbey Island Invitational volleyball tournament.

The Roughriders went 2-2-1 in the one-day tournament.

In pool play, Port Angeles lost to Lakeside (25-13, 25-12), split with Noocksack Valley (25-15, 24-26) and lost to Lynnwood (26-24, 24-17).

As the third-place team in their pool, the Roughriders moved on to bracket play later Saturday with three other teams that finished third in their respective pools.

In bracket play, the Riders beat Cascade Christian (25-14, 17-25, 15-7) and Friday Harbor (25-18, 25-8).

For the tournament, Kendra Harvey served 44-47 and had nine aces, four kills and 67 digs. Madison Hinrichs had five aces while serving 27-31. She also had 17 kills, 55 digs and two blocks.

Brittany Norberg contributed 19 kills, two aces and two digs; Sarah Steinman finished with 13 kills, two aces and seven digs; Bailee Jones had 12 kills, two aces, six digs and five blocks; Holli Williams had 39 assists, 12 digs, three aces, two kills and served 12 for 12; and Emily Johnson had 25 assists, 13 digs, one ace and three kills.

The Riders (1-2) play at North Kitsap today.
