PREP TRACK: East Jefferson boys dominate field events, finish second at Nisqually meet

VASHON — The East Jefferson boys track team dominated the field events to finish second at a Nisqually League finale meet this weekend.

Meanwhile, the East Jefferson girls did well in the middle distances, winning two events.

The East Jefferson boys finished with 72 team points. Bellevue Christian won the meet with 114.5 points.

The East Jefferson girls finished with 43 points, good for fifth place. Bellevue Christian won the girls meet with 109 points.

Tusker Behrenfeld had a great meet, winning the discus with a distance of 105 feet, 1 inch and winning the javelin with a throw of 139-8½, both personal bests. He also finished second in the shot put with a distance of 38-4. His teammate Gage Perry finished second in the discus (102-7) and third in the shot put (37-2½). East Jefferson’s Reid Martin finished third in the javelin (107-10). In these three field events, East Jefferson took six out of the top nine finishes.

East Jefferson’s Max Allworth-Miles won the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.74. His teammate Jerome Reaux Jr. finished second in the 400 (54.58) and third in the 200 (24.26). Sebastian Manza was second in the 1,600 meters (4:54.39) and Connor Paterson was third in the triple jump (31-5¾).

For the girls, Camryn Hines won the 800 meters with a time of 2:34.49, while Aliyah Yearian won the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:31.86. Hines also picked up a fourth place in the 1,600 (5:48.39).

Lia Poore finished second in the triple jump (31-2¾) and third in the long jump (13-8½).

Ava Vaughan finished third in the shot put (25-3¼) and third in the discus (83-11).

The East Jefferson 4×400 girls’ relay team of Hines, Yearian, Tadu Dollarhide and Poore finished third with a time of 4:51.66.

Almost all of the East Jefferson track athletes are returning next year as this was a young team.
