POULSBO — The Port Angeles boys track and field team won the Olympic League championship, dominating the hurdles and the field events and winning a total of five events in the two-day meet that concluded Saturday.
The Port Angeles and Sequim girls also tallied three-first place finishes Saturday.
The Roughriders tallied 310.5 points to North Kitsap’s 273. Sequim was sixth with 62.5 points.
For the girls, Sequim finished fifth with 136 points, while Port Angeles was sixth with 132.
The Riders’ Parker Nickerson had a spectacular meet. He already had won the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.03 seconds. He went on the win the 300-meter hurdles Saturday with a time of 40.86 seconds. He added a second place in the long jump (21 feet 1¼ inches) and a third place in the triple jump (40-5).
Both of Nickerson’s hurdles times are among the top six in the state among 2A athletes.
The Riders’ 4×100 relay team of Liam Wilson, Conner Enders, Trevor Martin and Jason Hawes was third in a time of 45.3 and the 4×400 team of Kaiden Point, Finn Thompson, Logan Wilson and Easton Dempsey came in fourth with a time of 3:38.88.
Andre Campbell was fifth in the 3,200 with a personal-record time of 10:55.45. The top five finishers in each event move on to the Bidistrict meet Friday and Saturday.
Sequim’s best showing Saturday was by Ari Skov, who finished third in the pole vault with a height of 13-3, a personal record. Teammate Cayden Beauregard was fourth at 12-9 and Sequim’s Brody Anderson was fifth at 11-9.
Thursday’s winners included Port Angeles’ Trevor Martin in the discus (137-3), Dallas Dunning in the high jump (6-0) and Donovan Heins in the long jump (22-2¾).
Heins’ leap is ranked No. 1 in the state among 2A athletes.
Girls
The best Olympic Peninsula finishes for the girls Saturday was by Port Angeles’ Faerin Tate and Teanna Clark, and Sequim’s Clare Turella.
Tate won the 300 hurdles in a time of 47.42. On Thursday, she was second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.91. Both of those were personal records and her 300 hurdles time is fifth-best in the state.
Clark, meanwhile, won the javelin with a throw of 111-11, a personal record.
Sequim’s Clare Turella won the high jump with a leap of 4-10, while teammate Bailey Stein was third at 4-4.
Sequim’s Kaitlyn Bloomenrader finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:24.01, a personal record. On Thursday, she finished fourth in the 1,600 with another personal record of 5:30.48.
Port Angeles’ Leia Larson was third in the 3,200 with a time of 12:45.91.

North Olympic League championship
JOYCE — The Clallam Bay boys and girls both won the North Olympic League track and field championships, with Crescent a close second.
The Clallam Bay girls won with 62 points to Crescent’s 61, while the boys had 68 points to Crescent’s 59. The Neah Bay girls had 39 points and the Neah Bay boys 37.
The Bruins’ Jose Jimmicum won two events, the 100 meters (11.84) and the 200 (25.11). His teammates Mauricio Cruz won the 400 (56.53), Cyrus Politte the 1,600 (5:33.38) and Uriel Cruz-Lopez the 3,200 (12:33.88).
Politte also won the 110 hurdles (20.98), while Clallam Bay’s William Hull won the 300 hurdles (48.99).
Neah Bay’s Daniel Cumming won the shot put with a distance of 40-4 and the discus with a personal-record distance of 94-2.
Mikah Love of Crescent was also a multiple-event winner. He took first in the javelin 112-8 and in the 800-meter run (2:31.55).
Crescent’s Dominiq Sprague won two events, the long jump (18-4) and the triple jump (36-10). Crescent’s Cole Grooms won the high jump (5-4).
Relay winners include:
4×100 — Neah Bay (Christopher Hottowe), 51.03.
4×400 — Crescent (Zach Holmes, Conner Avrett, Sprague, Love), 4:23.04.
Girls
Crescent’s Naomii Sprague and Katelyn Dunavant both had huge days, combining to win a total of seven events relying on both speed and strength.
Sprague, still just a sophomore, won the 100 (13.78), the 200 (28.71), the long jump (14-8) and the triple jump (32-5, personal record).
Dunavant won the shot put (32-5), the discus (88-7, personal record) and the javelin (95-11, personal record).
Ryana Moss had the best showing for Neah Bay. She won the 1,600 in a time of 6:10.02 and the 300 hurdles in 52.08, the fifth-best time in the state among 1B athletes.
Moss was also part of the first-place 4×200 team (Brianna McGimpsey, Alexa Greene, Caylee Moss and Ryana Moss) that finished in a time of 2:00.14.
Crescent’s Darica Bertelson won two events, the 100 hurdles (20.51) and the high jump (4-4).
