POULSBO — All three Port Angeles singles players and two of three doubles teams advanced to the
second day of the Olympic League Boys Tennis Championship with strong performances Wednesday at North Kitsap High School.
“We did really well,” Roughriders coach Brian Gundersen said. “We brought nine guys, three singles and three doubles teams, and everybody is coming back except for one doubles team.”
Hayden Woods went 2-0 in singles play, while the doubles duo of Bo Bradow and Milo Whitman also won both of their matches.
Jadon Seibel and Wyatt Hall stayed alive with 2-1 records in singles play.
“Unfortunately they have to play each other [today],” Gundersen said.
Also alive is the doubles team of Daniel Basden and Lucas Jarnagin after posting a 2-1 mark.
Kyler Tourbin and Brady Nickerson were eliminated after going 1-2 Wednesday.
“It was a great day one for us,” Gundersen said. “We competed really well and pulled what many would describe as upsets based on where guys were seeded.
“Having as many guys as we have playing on day two is a great accomplishment.”
