PREP TENNIS: Gunderson and Soule duo lift Roughriders tennis in season opener

Little rallies back as Sequim nets win

BREMERTON — Port Angeles boys tennis didn’t drop a single set in their season opener, blanking the Bremerton Knights 7-0 on the road.

“The guys have been excited to play since the beginning of the season and it showed today,” said coach Brian Gundersen.

Gundersen said the No. 1 doubles match featuring Damon Gundersen and Michael Soule was the closest competitive match.

“Damon and Mike got off to a slow start, falling behind 5-2 in the first set,” Gundersen said. “They stayed positive and calm and ripped off the next five games in a row to win the first set. They played their best on the biggest points and pulled it out against a tough Bremerton team.”

Port Angeles (1-0) plays Olympic on Tuesday.
