FORKS — Forks junior Dimitri Sampson was selected to the All-Evergreen League offensive and defensive first teams by the league’s coaches.
Sampson, a running back and a linebacker, earned two of the Spartans’ four first-team nods.
Senior defensive end Leo Gonzales and junior defensive back Javier Contreras were Forks’ other two first-teamers.
Gonzales also received offensive honorable mention as a tight end.
Senior Brett Pederson was chose for the offensive and defensive second teams as a running back and linebacker.
Jeffrey Treichel earned second-team honors as an offensive lineman and was honorable mention at defensive line.
Other honorable mention recipients for the Spartans are punter Miguel Morales, offensive lineman Luke Loveless, defensive back Reece Hagan and kicker Andrew Armas.
Tenino’s Zack Chamberlain was named the league’s Most Valuable Player, and Tenino’s Jeff Zenisek earned Coach of the Year.
Volleyball awards
Forks’ Erin Weekes received All-Evergreen League honorable mention.
In the Nisqually League, the Chimacum Cowboys had two players honored.
Megan Dukek, the Chimacum’s setter for the past three years, was named to the All-Nisqually League Second Team.
Dukek totaled 281 assists this season and had the second highest serving percentage — 97 percent om 201 serves — in the league.
For the Cowboys, she was the top server with 27 aces, and she had 134 digs and 22 kills.
“I was so happy to hear that Megan earned this honor since she is most deserving of it and more importantly, that the other coaches saw how talented and valuable she is,” Chimacum coach Sally Dankert said.
“Her positive attitude and dedication have made it a real pleasure to coach her.”
Also recognized was Olivia Baird who received All-Nisqually League Honorable Mention.
Baird led the Cowboys’ defense with 188 digs while having the second-highest kill percent and the second-most kills with 56.
Her overall serving was 94 percent on 190 serves, and she was second in aces behind Dukek with 18.
Returning girls lettering this year were Alyssa Hamilton, Lauren Thacker, Audrey Thacker, Kiersten Snyder and Chelsey Johnson. First time lettering in volleyball awards went to Sophia Thurston, Alina Preston, Kim Wheeler and Taylor Carthum.
Chimacum also awarded letters and scholar-athlete awards earlier this week.

The scholar-athlete awards, for athletes with at least a 3.5 GPA, went to Dukek, Baird, Hamilton, Lauren Thacker, Audrey Thacker, Johnson, Thurston, Preston, Wheeler and Carthum.
