PREP SPORTS: Snowy weather postpones Tuesday’s entire slate of contests

Port Angeles at Sequim basketball doubleheader pushed to Saturday

PORT ANGELES — Not even the rain shadow, or a scheduled Rainshadow Rumble rivalry doubleheader, is strong enough protection against the effects of the Fraser River outflow.

Snowy weather impacted prep sports in a big way Tuesday with the day’s entire slate of prep contests postponed.

The postponements include the Rainshadow Rumble rivalry boys and girls basketball doubleheaders scheduled between Port Angeles and Sequim and the second of three Chimacum and Port Townsend contests this season in the hoops version of the Quimper Quarrel.

The Roughriders-Wolves matchups have been rescheduled for Saturday at Sequim High School’s Rick Kaps Gymnasium.

Sequim and the Port Angeles girls will tip off at 5:45 p.m. with the boys game following at 7:15 p.m.

Port Townsend and Chimacum rescheduled their doubleheader to Jan. 27 with the girls game at 5:45 p.m. and the boys contest at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday’s Forks’ boys and girls basketball doubleheader at Montesano also was pushed back, with the games moved to Thursday. The boys game will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the girls game set for 7 p.m.

Other events postponed Tuesday included Forks’ boys and girls wrestling matches at North Kitsap and Quilcene’s boys and girls basketball doubleheader at Puget Sound Adventist.

With heavy snow forecast for Tuesday evening and lighter snow in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, more prep postponements appear likely.
