BREMERTON — Sequim’s Lea Hopson added another trophy to her collection this week.
The senior shortstop was named the Olympic League MVP for the second year in a row after submitting yet another spectacular season for the undefeated Wolves.
Hopson, who will play for the College of Southern Idaho next spring, smashed a North Olympic Peninsula best nine homers while hitting for a .672 batting average and 45 RBIs this season.
Only teammate and fellow first-team All-Olympic League selection Maddy Zbaraschuk (.700 BA, 52 RBIs) had better numbers in the latter two categories.
Not surprisingly, Sequim was one of the leaders in the all-league voting, with eight players getting named to either the first or second team.
Only Port Angeles had more first- and second-team players with nine total.
The Roughriders’ Buddy Bear was also named coach of the year for leading his team to a second-place finish in league.
Among the other Sequim players on the first team were Cindy Miller in the infield, Demiree Briones at pitcher and Rylleigh Zbaraschuk in the outfield.
Port Angeles had four athletes named to the first team.
Kelsey Hinsdale was selected for first-team infield after leading the Riders with a .510 batting average and 23 RBIs.
Hannah Wahto was a first-team catcher with a .491 average and 23 RBIs.
Stacey Webb was named a first-team pitcher and Emily Drake a first-team outfielder.
Sequim’s Bailey Rhodefer, Alexas Besand and Columbia Haupt were named second-team all-league.
Mariah Frazier, Katie Loghry, Sheri Adams, Meleny Fors and Kearsten Cox were named second-team all-league for the Riders.
Port Townsend did not have any all-league players despite getting its first two wins in several years.
Port Angeles and Sequim will both play in the Class 2A bi-district tournament this weekend in Tacoma.

PT’s Grauberger qualifies for state
BREMERTON — Redskins senior Jenny Grauberger qualified for her third straight trip to the Class 1A state tournament on Tuesday with a fourth-place finish at tri-districts.
Grauberger shot an 83 in 18 holes at Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton.
The Olympic League’s MVP, Grauberger shot 10 strokes better than her tri-district qualifier last year.
Grauberger will compete May 25-26 at DuPont’s Home Course.
