PREP SPORTS: Sequim ties Bainbridge in girls golf match

Brewer shoots 43

SEQUIM — Sequim and Bainbridge earned a rare tie in an Olympic League girls golf match at The Cedars at Dungeness with each side totaling 188 strokes in the nine-hole match.

Junior Raimey Brewer led the Wolves with a round of 7-over-par 43 to finish second individually.

Bainbridge senior Grace Charintranont, the reigning Olympic League champion, shot even-par 36 to earn match medalist.

Sequim teammates Sara German and Kaiya Robinson each posted scores of 48 to tie for fourth, while Kendra Dodson added a 49.

Gabriella Hood (54) and Chloe Tweter (55) also turned in scorecards for the Wolves.

Port Angeles 194, Olympic 246

PORT ANGELES — Autumn Wilson-Rowland was match medalist with a nine-hole score of 46 to lead the Roughriders to a win at Peninsula Golf Club.

She was closely followed by Claire Osterberg’s 47 and Mia Neff with a 48.

Malena Marquez added a 54, while Lainey Rudd shot 63 and Layla Parker a 66.

Port Angeles plays North Kitsap at Port Ludlow on Tuesday.

Boys Golf

Bainbridge 148, Sequim 178

SEQUIM — Bainbridge overwhelmed Sequim at The Cedars at Dungeness on Thursday.

Adrian Aragon and Joey Kang led the Wolves with 6-over-par rounds of 42.

Levi Breithaupt posted a 46 and Cody Dunscomb shot 48 for Sequim.

Anderson Wicklund was match medalist for the Spartans at 1 under par.

The Wolves play Olympic at Kitsap Golf & Country Club on Tuesday.

Port Angeles 171, Olympic 176

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles sophomore Sky Gelder turned in a match medalist-worthy round of 4-over-par 40 to lead the Roughriders to a bounce-back victory over Olympic at Peninsula Golf Club on Thursday.

Gelder edged Olympic senior Dylan Williams by one stroke for the top spot.

Port Angeles senior Tate Alton posted a round of 42 to tie for third with Olympic’s Noah Shaw.

Freshman Noah Myers chipped in with a 44 and Cale Wentz added a 45 for the Riders.

Max Gagnon and Austin Worthington each shot 46 to round out Port Angeles.

Softball

Port Angeles 5, Kingston 4

KINGSTON — Kennedy Rognlien’s sacrifice fly brought home Mariah Traband with the go-ahead run and pitcher Heidi Leitz struck out the side to close out a close one in extra innings.

Leitz went the entire game in the circle, allowing four runs, two earned, and striking out 14 while walking two.

Lexie Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Morgan Politika was 2-for-4 with a run.

Mikkhia Stevens added a double, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI.

Lynzee Reid drew three walks and scored a run, and Traband, Leitz and Abby Kimball all singled.

Port Angeles (6-0, 9-1) visits North Mason on Monday.

Sequim 11, Bremerton 10

BREMERTON — Hannah Giddens doubled and drove in four runs for the Wolves.

Rylie Doig added an RBI triple for Sequim (2-6).
