PREP SPORTS: Sequim baseball and softball rout Port Townsend

SEQUIM — Two games, two convincing wins by the Sequim baseball team.

The Wolves ran all over Port Townsend, recording 12 stolen bases in a 14-1 victory in five innings at Sequim High School on Wednesday.

In its season opener Tuesday, Sequim blanked Foster 10-0.

Dylan Lott had four hits, four runs and two steals for the Wolves, while Brett Wright turned three walks into four stolen bases, a run and an RBI.

Evan Hurn, Nick Johnston and James Grubb each drove in two runs.

Johnston pitched all five innings for Sequim. He struck out nine and allowed only one hit.

Jacob King had the Redskins’ only hit, which drove in Brett Lawrence.

Sequim (2-0) makes its first road trip today when it faces Chimacum (0-1), which lost to Port Townsend 5-1 on Monday, at 4 p.m.

The Redskins (1-1) host North Kitsap today at Memorial Field at 4 p.m.

SEQUIM — Makayla Bentz tossed two scoreless and hitless innings and Jordan Bentz homered to lead the Wolves to an Olympic League win over the Redskins on Wednesday.

Alexas Besand was 2 for 3 at the plate with three runs and three RBIs for Sequim. Mary Lu Clift, Jordan Bentz and Alysen Montileus all drove in two runs apiece.

Makayla Bentz fanned four in two innings. She was relieved by Olivia Kirsch, who gave up only two hits in three innings.

Gen Polizzi had a hit and a run for Port Townsend, while Rose Gitleman had a hit and an RBI.

The Redskins (0-1) host North Kitsap at Blue Heron Middle School today.

Sequim heads to Anacortes on Saturday for a pair of games against Lynden and Anacortes.
