SEQUIM — Sequim swept rival Port Angeles 7-0 in girls tennis action to move into solo second in the Olympic League standings.
The most contested matches in Wednesday’s play were the No. 1 singles contest between the Wolves’ Stephanie LaCour and the Roughriders’ Summer Olsen and the No. 4 doubles duel between Sequim’s Deratu Francis and Emily Body and Port Angeles partners Emily Metzler and Camryn Mason.
Both matches went to three sets.
LaCour dropped the first set 3-6 to Olsen, but powered back to win 7-5, 6-0.
Francis and Body also dropped the first set in a marathon tiebreaker 6-7 (7-9), but claimed 6-4, 6-0 set victories to win the match.
Sequim (6-3) visits North Mason today, while Port Angeles (1-5) travels to Klahowya.

Boys Soccer Klahowya 3, Sequim 0
BREMERTON — The Wolves fell on the road in a nonleague game against the Olympic League 1A Division Eagles.
Sequim coach Dave Brasher said his team weathered a rough opening 10 minutes and played well, even outshooting Klahowya 10-7.
“Klahowya tied North Kitsap and lost by one goal to Kingston, he said.
“They are as good as anybody in our league, even though they are 1A. they have a good shot to go pretty far in the 1A ranks [at state].”
The Eagles scored twice in the first 1o minutes before Sequim settled down.
“From 10 minutes on to about 35 minutes we were in control and Ryan Tolberd had a couple good chances,” Brasher said.
Liam Harris is still working himself back to form after an early-season injury.
“Liam is getting close to getting back to full strength,” Brasher said. “I played him about 3/4s of last night’s game. His shooting and touch are getting there.”
Klahowya scored its last goal in the 36th minute
“Second half, we carried the play and didn’t allow a shot but we couldn’t get anything in the net,” Brasher said.
He named Evan James the team’s man of the match for his play in midfield.
Sequim (4-3, 5-3-2) hosts North Mason tonight.
