QUILCENE — Quilcene pounded out 23 hits and scored 21 runs in a doubleheader blowout against Muckleshoot, 12-1 and 21-0.
In the opener, Rangers catcher Erin Macedo hit a two-run homer and Allison Jones went 2 for 3 with a triple to lead the Quilcene offense.
Pitcher Bailey Kieffer struck out 13 and allowed just one hit in the five-inning game.
Jones went 3 for 3 with a double in the nightcap, while Madison Coffee was 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs.
Abby Weller added three hits, including a triple, and drove in a pair of runs. She also earned the pitching win, striking out five in three innings.
Hannah Williams had an RBI single and Kortney Benek a two-run single in the victory.
“Weather was good, and everybody played,” coach Mark Thompson said.
The Rangers (6-0, 10-1) host Class 1A Klahowya today.

BREMERTON — The Roughriders trailed the Knights 1-0 after one inning before the Port Angeles bats came alive to pound out 12 hits, six of them extra-base hits, in a blowout win.
“[We] got solid pitching and crushed the ball for six extra-base hits in the five-inning game,” Riders coach Randy Steinman said.
Natalie Steinman led the way with a pair of doubles, a triple and a run for Port Angeles.
Sierra Robinson added three hits, scored twice and drove in a run.
Brennan Gray tripled and scored, Taylar Clark went 2 for 3 with a triple, a run and an RBI and Nikaila Price doubled, walked twice, scored twice and drove in two runs.
Lauren Lunt also scored three times and drove in a run for the winners.
Hope O’Connor allowed one run on three hits and struck out two to pick up the win.
Callie Hall struck out four of the six batters she faced while allowing no runs and no hits in relief.

CHIMACUM — The Cowboys moved a step closer to their third straight Olympic League 1A Division title with a one-hit win over the Eagles.
Holly Snider struck out one and walked two to earn the win in the pitcher’s circle for Chimacum. She got plenty of help offensively, led by Mechelle Nisbet’s 3 for 3 performance, including three runs and two RBIs.
Shanya Nisbet went 2 for 3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run for the Cowboys and Grace Yaley was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.
Chimacum (6-1, 8-3) can clinch the league title by sweeping the season series from Coupeville (6-2, 15-2) at home on Monday.

TACOMA — The Wolves tuned up for the district playoffs by pounding out 17 hits in a win over the Class 3A Thunderbirds.
Sequim (12-5) opens district play against White River (9-110) on Saturday at noon at Curtis High School in University Place.
James Grubb had three hits, including a triple, plus two RBIs and two runs to lead Sequim at the plate. Gavin Velarde doubled twice, driving in one run and scoring another and Austin Hilliard added three hits and scored three runs in the big win.
Six Sequim pitchers saw time on the mound in the game.

Boys Soccer Port Angeles 3, North Kitsap 1
PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit against the Vikings and upset the apple cart that is the Olympic League 2A Division standings, knocking North Kitsap out of first place and lifting Kingston to an Olympic League championship.
Port Angeles moved past rival Sequim into the league’s third playoff spot with Wednesday’s win and will face Fife in a loser-out district match at Franklin Pierce High School at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Coach Chris Saari said that after allowing an early goal by DeAndre Sluys in the eighth minute, the Riders started putting pressure on the Vikings midway through the first half.
“[We] continued [our] solid play into the second half and capitalized on a weak back pass in the 46th minute,” Saari said.
The Riders’ Andrew St. George intercepted a weak back pass by a Viking midfielder and put the ball past goalkeeper Jordan Thompson to even the score.
Port Angeles scored the go-ahead goal 12 minutes later when the Riders took a short free kick near midfield and Andrew Methner crossed the ball into the far post where Kenny Soule headed the ball back across the goal mouth and Grayson Peet finished it from close range past Thompson.
“[We] survived some late pressure from the Vikings and a controversial goal line clearance where the Vikings were claiming that the ball had crossed the line,” Saari said.
Port Angeles (7-5, 10-6) clung to the momentum and Peet scored his second goal on an assist by Stuart Methner.
“Stuart played a long ball up the middle over the head of the defense,” Saari said. “Grayson out ran the Viking defender and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.”
Saari was pleased with his team’s play.
“[We] looked inspired and played [our] best game of the year overall,” he said. “They were winning individual battles all over the field. The ball movement was quality along with some solid finishing from St. George and Peet.”
Bremerton 1, Sequim 0
BREMERTON — The Wolves had their chances but couldn’t find the net in a costly loss to the Knights.
Sequim and Bremerton tied for the fourth and final district playoff seed out of the Olympic League 2A Division standings and the playoff tiebreakers provided no help.
The Wolves and Knights split head-to-head matchups and were even in games against teams that finished higher and lower in the standings.
So a mini-game tiebreaker featuring two 20-minute halves was played last night at Kingston High School to sort out the situation.
A Sequim win sends the Wolves to a loser-out district match against Clover Park at Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma at 10 a.m. Saturday. A loss ends Sequim’s (6-6, 7-7-2) season.
Against Bremerton on Wednesday, the Wolves outshot the Knights 10-4.
“In the first half we had at least four good chances we couldn’t convert on,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.
“They got one on a really nice shot in the 69th minute by Louis Clemen. “It went just over the tips of [goalkeeper] Navy [Thomas-Brenske’s] hands and into goal.”
Brasher said the Wolves had one good shot to tie the game up late.
“Ryan Tolberd, right before the whistle, turned on a cross from Patrick McCrorie and it went a little bit over the top,” he said.
“It would have been a goal of the year finish for sure if he’d made it.”
