PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Forks batters feast in slugfest

BEAVER — Forks’ bats were ready in a 13-11 season-opening nonleague softball victory over Chimacum at Orr Field in Beaver.

Jayden Olson hit a clutch grand slam for the Spartans, while Rian Peters went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple and Myah Rondeau was one home run away from the cycle after hitting a triple, a double and a single.

Britney Dean pitched three innings, allowing three runs, one earned, to pick up the win for Forks.

Sequim 15, Klahowya 5

SILVERDALE — The Wolves got 18 hits and 15 runs to pick up their first win of the year in a nonleague game against the Olympic League 1A Division Eagles.

Chloie and Bobbi Sparks each had four hits for Sequim (1-2), while Adrienne Haggerty had two hits, including a home run.

Shelby Jones, Raelyn Opdyke, Jessica Dominguez had two hits each, while Jones and Isabelle Dennis combined to four-hit the Eagles, with Jones picking up the win.

Sequim (1-2) is scheduled to play North Mason at home at 4:15 p.m. today, weather permitting, for its Olympic League 2A Division opener.

Quilcene vs. Darrington, cancelled

Quilcene — The Rangers’ SeaTac League game against the Loggers on Tuesday was cancelled.

Quilcene is scheduled to host Rainier Christian on Thursday.

Baseball Sequim 8, Klahowya 4

SILVERDALE — Sequim scored five runs in the first two innings and held Klahowya to just one run in the final five innings in an 8-4 win.

Justin Porter pitched the final five innings and gave up one earned run while striking out five to pick up the win in Monday’s game as the Wolves pushed their record to 2-0. Jared Thomas and James Grubb both had two hits, a double and an RBI for the Wolves, with Grubb also stealing two bases. James Thayer also had a double and an RBI, while Cole Williams had a hit and an RBI.

The Wolves are scheduled to play North Mason at 4:15 p.m. today, weather permitting.
