PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Aguirre headlines North Olympic League volleyball all-league team; Forks’ Queen, Lausche honored

PORT ANGELES — Neah Bay’s Vonte Aguirre headlined the North Olympic League volleyball all-league team in voting conducted by league coaches.

Aguirre was selected as the league’s Best Hitter and Best Blocker, and was one of six players named to the all-league team.

Clallam Bay’s Miriam Wonderly was voted Best Setter and teammate Mariah LaChester earned a nod as the league’s best defender.

The Bruins’ head coach Kelli Wilson was selected Coach of the Year after leading Clallam Bay to the Class 1B state tournament.

Other players named to the all-league team included Crescent’s Ashara Dodson, Neah Bay’s Starlena Halttunen and Clallam Bay’s Jennica Maines.

Forks duo honored

FORKS — Forks junior middle hitter Bailey Queen was selected to the All-Evergreen League first-team in voting conducted by league coaches.

The Spartans’ sophomore setter Julia Lausche was voted to the second team.

Montesano senior Jordan Spradlin was voted league MVP.

Her coach, Debbie Gibson, was picked as the league’s Coach of the Year.

FORKS — Forks seniors Caityn Wells and Lupita Salazar earned honorable mention in voting by the Evergreen League’s girls soccer coaches.

Montesano’s Samantha Stanfield was picked as the league’s Offensive MVP, while Elma’s Dallas Trusty was tapped as Defensive MVP.

Hoquiam’s Drew Grannemann was voted Coach of the Year.
