YAKIMA — Quilcene is guaranteed its best-ever state volleyball finish after defeating Odessa-Harrington at the Class 1B state tournament at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

The Rangers won in four sets 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 25-13.

Quilcene opened the tournament with a dominating win over Lake Quinault Friday morning in three quick sets 25-10, 25-17, 25-8.

Then the Rangers ran into their nemesis, SeaTac League foe Christian Faith.

For the third time this season, the Eagles beat Quilcene in three sets 25-13, 25-9, 25-12.

The Rangers then got past Odessa-Harrington to advance to the fifth-place game.

Last year, Quilcene placed eighth at state.

Meanwhile, Neah Bay fell one win short of earning a state trophy.

The Red Devils followed a three-set loss to Sunnyside Christian on Friday morning with a three-set sweep of Three Rivers Christian 25-13, 25-19, 25-23 on Friday afternoon.

But Neah Bay was knocked out Saturday morning by Riverside Christian 25-23, 25-20, 25-16.
