PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend boys basketball team fell to Kingston 38-29 thanks to a scoreless fourth quarter.
The Redskins and Buccaneers went into the final period tied at 29-29 before Kingston scored all nine points over the final eight minutes.
Sean Dwyer paced Port Townsend on Wednesday with nine points and Paul Spaltenstein had eight.
The Redskins (0-2) plays tonight at Olympic, which is off to a somewhat surprising 0-2 league start after sharing the Olympic League championship last season.
Sequim 57, Olympic 50
SEQUIM — The Wolves won the battle between last season’s co-league champions.
Alex Barry led Sequim in scoring with 17 points. Barry also had team-highs with eight rebounds and three steals.
Vance Willis had a perfect shooting night for the Wolves on Wednesday, going 2 for 2 on 2-point field goals, 2 for 2 on 3-pointers and 2 for 2 at the free-throw line to finish with 12 points.
Rory Kallappa contributed nine points, Eric Christensen had eight and Anthony Pinza scored seven.
A few games into the season, the Wolves and Trojans are headed in opposite directions.
Sequim is off to a 2-0 start, with both wins coming in Olympic League play, and Olympic is 0-2, with both losses coming against league opponents.
The Wolves return to action Saturday with a home game against the 2012-13 class 1B runner-up Neah Bay.
Forks 61, Lake Quinault 32
AMANDA PARK — Leo Gonzales continued his stellar start to the season with 19 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to lead the Spartans over the Elks.
Gonzales has a double-double in each of Forks’ three games this season.
Colton Raben had a monster game himself, scoring 18 points and tallying six assists and seven steals.
Lake Quinault, a class 1B school, stuck with the 1A Spartans throughout the first two quarter, trailing 25-22 at halftime.
But Forks’ defense held the Elks to three third-quarter points to blow the game open.
“You could tell they were pumped up to be playing us,” Spartans coach Rick Gooding said.
“We definitely turned it around and started playing basketball the way we should instead of just cruising.”
Ollie Sampson scored nine points for Forks and Dimitri Sampson and Keishaun Ramsey added five apiece.
The win is the Spartans’ first on the season (1-2). They host league foe Elma tonight.
Girls Basketball
Sequim 52, Olympic 45 OT
BREMERTON — The Wolves outscored the Trojans 11-4 in the extra period to earn their second win of the season and move to 2-0 in Olympic League play.
Alexas Besand and Caitlin Stofferahn both scored in double figures with 18 and 10, respectively, and Kylee Williams added nine points.
Melanie Guan led Sequim with eight rebounds. Elise Beuke and Alexas Besand had seven each and Stofferahn grabbed six.
The Wolves (2-2) are off until they host Kingston on Monday.
Port Angeles 67, North Mason 26
BELFAIR — Krista Johnson scored 18 points, dished out nine assists and had six steals for the Roughriders.
Johnson scored eight of her points in the opening quarter, and many of her assists were hookups with Bailee Jones in the post.
Jones finished with 14 points. She led Port Angeles with nine rebounds and passed out four assists of her own.
“We had good ball movement most of the night,” Riders coach Mike Poindexter said after Wednesday’s game.
Jolene Millsap and Kylee Jeffers added eight points apiece for Port Angeles, and Hayley Baxley had seven.
Jeffers and Maddie Boe both had four assists.
The Riders were without Maddy Hinrichs due to illness, and the Bulldogs lost one if their top layers, Jennifer Beattie, to injury in the first quarter.
Port Angeles (2-0, 3-0) hosts Kingston tonight and 2012-13 2A runner-up W.F. West on Saturday.

Port Angeles takes third
AUBURN — The Roughriders opened their season by finishing third at a four-team meet at Auburn Mountainview High School.
Madylan Coventan placed fifth overall for Port Angeles with a score of 29.2, and Katie Gibson took seventh with 27.95 points.
Coventon was second on the bars with a 7.6 and third in the vault with a 7.85.
Gibson placed fifth in the vault (7.75) and seventh on the bars (6.2).
Alexis Hefton took eighth on the bars with a 6.1.
Shay-lyn Gracey’s 7.65 on the bars was good enough for a seventh-place showing, and Rozzi Piper was eighth with a 7.6.
Alysa Martinez placed in the floor routine with a score of 7.85.
