KINGSTON — Port Angeles wrestling improved to 2-0 in Olympic League action after winning 66-12 at Kingston.
The Roughriders won eight matches by pin.
Tyler Gale (113 pounds), Ben Basden (120), Brady Anderson (126) and Kyle La Fritz all pinned their opponents in less than one minute during Wednesday’s meet.
Nate Harrelson (106 pounds), Gavin Crain (132), Evan Gallacci (182) and Matt Robbins (195) also won by pin for Port Angeles.
The Riders won three matches by forfeit.
George Wedig, Nick Walstersorf and Troy Brady were winners for the Buccaneers.
Port Angeles next competes at the Fife tournament on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
At the Forks Invite last weekend, Caleb Joslin placed fourth at 145 pounds, giving the Riders 10 placers.
Forks 50, Elma 30
FORKS — Forks picked up its second Evergreen League win of the season after dominating the larger weight classes against the Eagles.
The Spartans won seven of the 11 contested matches Wednesday, five of them by pin, and also picked up wins by forfeit in two classes.
“Both teams were having early season problems getting everyone one in their proper weights for the year, so there were a few forfeits,” Forks coach Bob Wheeler said.
The Spartans rolled from the 170-pound division on up.
Reece Moody (170 pounds), Dimitri Sampson (195) and Tristan Tumaua (285) all pinned their opponents in 38 seconds or less.
Jack Dahlgren (182) also won by pin in 2:57 and Miguel Morales (220) earned a win by forfeit.
Alvaro Ortiz (120) won by pin at 2:28.
Sebastian Morales (126) earned a 20-5 technical fall win and Alan Ensastegui picked up a 13-7 win by decision.
Forks will head to LaCenter for dual matches today and a tournament on Saturday.
The Spartans next league match is Wednesday at Rochester.
Sequim places three at Forks Invite
FORKS — The Wolves had three top finishers at last weekend’s Forks Invite.
Jaime Schroepfer was third in the 106-pound division, Kevyn Ward was fourth at 152 pounds and Nathan Allison was fourth in the heavyweight division.
For the Sequim girls, Alma Mendoza (125 pounds) and Kaylee Ditlefsen (140 pounds) each were undefeated in the girls round-robin competition.
The Wolves next compete in the Battle at the Border at Blaine High School today and Saturday.

Sequim 34, Crosspoint 32
BREMERTON — The Wolves had to hold on to earn a low-scoring road win against the Class 1B Warriors.
Class 2A Sequim outscored Crosspoint Academy 10-2 in the first quarter, but the Warriors crept back into the game over the next three quarters and held the Wolves to 13 second-half points.
“We were extremely careless with the ball tonight — 32 turnovers — and we didn’t rebound as well as we should have,” Wolves coach Evan Still said.
“Crosspoint had 22 second-chance opportunities. We were fortunate that they had a tough shooting night.”
Victoria Cummins and Elise Beuke led Sequim with eight points each.
Cummins had eight rebounds, which tied her with McKenzie Bentz for team-high honors
Beuke also had three blocks, Bentz had three steals and Jordan Miller dished out six assists.
Crosspoint’s Desere’e Doty topped all scorers with 18 points, and Cailyn Cattell had 12.
Doty is the daughter of former Sequim High School multi-sport standout Darren Doty.
Desere’e Doty, with Darren Doty as head coach, led the Warriors to a second consecutive state soccer tournament last month.
Sequim (1-0, 3-1) next plays at Coupeville on Saturday.

Riders take third at Kentlake
KENT — Port Angeles placed third out of five schools competing at Kentlake High School.
The Roughriders, with a score of 142.1, came in behind host Kentlake (151.24) and Auburn Mountain View (146.3) and Wednesday’s meet.
Freshman Cassii Middlestead was Port Angeles’ highest placer, coming in second in the bars and third in all-around. She also placed sixth on the beam.
Junior Lexi Hefton placed sixth on the bars for the Riders and senior Elizabeth DeFrang came in seventh.
DeFrang placed sixth in the all-around.
On the vault, DeFrang placed sixth and teammate Nikaila Price tied with Sequim’s Julie Pineau for ninth place.
Pineau also took sixth in the floor exercise.
The Roughriders return to action Saturday, Dec. 20, at Black Hills.
