PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles pitchers Sarah Steinman and Nizhoni Wheeler combined to throw a three-hitter and limited the Kingston Buccaneers to just one run in a 7-1 Olympic League triumph.
Steinman had a no-hitter going through five innings before Kingston reached base on an infield single in the sixth inning.
“[We] started this week right where [we] left off last week, with good hitting, great pitching and errorless defense,” Port Angeles coach Randy Steinman said following Monday’s game.
Carly Gouge continued her scorching streak at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.
Gouge is 14 for 15 in her last four games, with two home runs, a triple and eight RBIs.
Haley Gray was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Cara Cristion was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Steinman helped her own cause with an RBI single.
Port Angeles (6-0, 6-2) visits Bremerton today for a doubleheader.

QUILCENE — The Rangers won their third straight game over an Olympic League opponent after toppling Port Townsend.
“Our effort today was A-plus,” Quilcene coach Mark Thompson said. “These girls always come to play.”
Sammy Rae led the way for Quilcene, striking out eight Redskins batters and allowing one run on four hits in her seven innings of work on the pitching mound to improve to 7-0 on the season.
Rae also was 3 for 4 at bat with a home run, a double, two RBIs and a three runs scored.
The Rangers Megan Weller went 3 for 4 at the plate with a triple and three runs and Alexis Gray had an RBI double in Quilcene’s three-run fifth inning.
“Our defense was better, but three errors is still too many, and the bottom of our order needs to contribute to the offense more,” Thompson said.
The Rangers host Wishkah Valley on Thursday, while Port Townsend visits North Kitsap today.

SEQUIM — The Wolves utilized 11 hits and nine Bulldogs errors to win in a blowout.
Sequim pitcher Makayla Bentz tossed a five-inning one-hitter, striking out five.
She also was 3 for 5 at the plate, with a double, a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored.
Sequim’s Mary Lu Clift was 2 for 4 with four RBIs and four runs while Shelby Lott was 3 for 5 with a triple and three runs.
The Wolves (7-0, 9-1) visit Kingston on Friday.

FORKS — The Spartans committed six errors in game one and seven errors in game two to drop a doubleheader to the Hyaks.
Hailey Engeseth doubled and Alexa Prose tripled in game one for Forks.
Engeseth struck out eight North Beach batters in the loss.
In game two, the Spartans batters Alex Henderson, Sarah Adams and Esther Nguyen all doubled.
Adams pitched and struck out three Hyaks batters.
Halle Palmer had a combined five stolen bases.
Forks is next scheduled to host Rochester in a doubleheader Thursday, April 24.

BELFAIR — The Bulldogs Daniel Burggraaf threw a complete game, one-hit shutout to win a pitchers duel against the Wolves.
Sequim hurler Nick Johnston struck out 13 and allowed only three hits.
The Wolves couldn’t manage any offense however, against the hard-throwing Burggraaf.
Sequim (6-2, 8-2) visits Kingston on Friday.

PORT ANGELES — Sophomore pitcher Travis Paynter tossed a complete-game three-hitter to lead the Riders to the win.
Paynter had four strikeouts and one walk and also contributed two base hits.
“He had a really solid outing for us,” Port Angeles coach Vic Reykdal said.
“He’s pitching like a guy who’s been there awhile and showing improvement each week.”
Jordan Shepherd added two hits and three RBIs for the Riders, including a two-run double in the sixth inning.
“That one put some good distance between us and Kingston,” Reykdal said.
Jace Bohman had a pair of hits as well for Port Angeles.
The Riders (3-4, 3-5) visit Bremerton for a doubleheader today.

PORT LUDLOW — Cowboys junior Jack Hilt earned match medalist honors and helped his team to the win after shooting a 4-over par 40 on Port Ludlow Golf Course’s Tide nine.
Chimacum’s James Porter fired a 46, Marcus Bufford a 52, Chris Bainbridge a 53 and Dan Rasmussen a 62.
Brian Wong led Cedar Park Christian with a 53.
The Cowboys (2-3) will play at Chambers Bay today in University Place.

BREMERTON — Alex Atwell shot a 7-over-par 79 on Gold Mountain’s Olympic Course to pace the Riders.
Atwell earned medalist honors for the fourth straight match for Port Angeles (4-0).
He had three birdies and seven pars on the day.
Atwell teammates Mason Jackson fired an 89 with five pars, Micah Needham a 90 with five pars and Alex Brown a 91 with six pars on the day.
Avery Koehler rounded things out for the Riders with a 101.
Port Angeles is back at Gold Mountain on Thursday to face Klahowya.

PORT ANGELES — The Knights dropped the Roughriders in an Olympic League match.
Port Angeles’ No. 1 doubles team of Hannah Little and McKenna Thompson dropped Merissa Delazerdo and Sierra Williams 6-4, 6-1 and the Riders’ No. 3 doubles team of Emily Basden and Khaya Elliott won 6-0, 6-4 against Celiyna Dorsett and McKayla Wilson.
Bremerton’s Sarah Cusias defeated Port Angeles’ Callie Peet in the No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-1.
The Riders’ Audra Perrizo dropped the No. 2 singles match 3-6, 2-6.
Port Angeles’ No. 3 singles player Lydia Cornelson lost to Madi Hilyer 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-10.
The Riders’ No. 2 doubles team of Jessica Zhu and Audrey Little fell to Ilene Winkley and Amy Luis 4-6, 3-6.
