BREMERTON — Four Port Angeles players combined to go 9 for 10 at the plate to lead the American team to a 14-10 win over the National squad at the 12th annual All-Star showcase softball game at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
The Port Angeles players accounted for two home runs, five RBIs and three walks.
Haley Gray hit a two-run home run over the fence and finished 2 for 3 with a walk and three RBIs.
Ashlee Reid popped a solo home run and was 2 for 2.
Sarah Steinman was 4 for 4 at bat and struck out five in three innings pitched.
Tori Kuch was 1 for 1 with a walk.
“The Riders softball players dominated the softball showcase,” Port Angeles head coach Randy Steinman said of Monday’s game.
“It was really fun to watch and an awesome way for these seniors to finish their high school careers.”
South Kitsap junior Hayley Romo was named MVP after going 3 for 3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs for the American team.
The game matched the best players on the Olympic and Kitsap peninsulas, regardless of year in school.
Olympic College softball coach Dan Haas coached the National League team.
During the regular season, Kuch signed a letter of intent to play softball for Haas at Olympic College.
Rangers assistant Heather Jenkins skippered the American League team.
Haas was assisted by Olympic College players Cassady Orstad and Amanda Johnson, while Jenkins was assisted by Greta Coleman and former Port Angeles player Mariah Frazier, who just finished her freshman season with the Rangers.

BREMERTON — Sequim’s Brett Wright and Nick Johnston helped American to a 3-2 win over National in the 47th Senior All-Star baseball game at Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
Port Angeles seniors Jordan Shepherd and Larsson Chapman played for the National team in Monday’s game.
Johnston served as the starting pitcher for the American squad and struck out three in three innings.
He allowed one run in the first inning on a wild pitch after loading the bases but escaped from further harm.
Wright beat out an infield single in the fourth and then scored when South Kitsap’s Tyler Ludlow singled to left field and the out fielder misplayed the ball.
Shepherd came through for the Nationals after Bremerton’s Nick Torres reached base via an error and stole second.
Shepherd then drove Torres in with a base hit.
Chapman also had a hit for National.
South Kitsap catcher Tyler Pinkerton was named the game’s MVP after collecting the game’s lone extra-base hit, a double, and driving in a run.
Wright was announced as one of five players from the game who will play in the All-State series this weekend in Yakima.
South Kitsap head coach Marcus Logue, a Port Townsend High School graduate who has guided the Wolves to back to back Class 4A state championship games, coached the American team.
Logue played in the all-star game in 2004 after winning the 2A state baseball championship when he was a senior at Port Townsend.
The National team was led by Olympic High School head coach Nate Andrews.

Track and Field
Crescent hands out team awards
JOYCE — The Crescent track and field team held its annual awards night at the school earlier this week.
Quenton Wolfer won the boys Most Valuable award after winning the state championship in the javelin with a 170-6 throw on his last attempt.
Wolfer also placed sixth at state in the discus and ranks in the school’s all-time top 10 in both events.
Quinn’Tin March received the Most Inspirational award for the boys.
The senior competed at state in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles and is in the school’s top 10 in both.
Wyatt McNeese won Most Improved after becoming the first Crescent freshman in over 10 years with a shot put over 40 feet.
Junior Martin Waldrip was named Mr. Track and Field.
Waldrip was a state competitor last year in the 1,600-meter run and 3,200-meter run, but this season had to convert to hurdles and triple jump due to injury.
He went on to qualify for state in the triple jump.
Meghan Shamp, Sierra George, Ryan Lester and Devanie Christie received the girls honors.
Shamp was named Most Valuable. The senior placed fourth at state in the discus and ranks as Crescent’s No. 4 all-time discus thrower at 105 feet and 6 inches.
George, a sophomore, won Most Inspirational as a discus thrower who is brand new to the sport.
Lester was named Most Improved. The sophomore is already the school record holder in the 100 hurdles and second in school history in the 300 hurdles.
She made state in both hurdles as well as in the long jump and triple jump.
Lester was the only four-event state competitor on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Christie was chosen as Miss Track and Field after placing third at state in the javelin for the second consecutive year.
An injury at Bi-Districts forced Christie, a senior, to withdraw from the 100 hurdles, long jump and triple jump after being ranked in the top 10 in Class 1B in each event.
Girls Basketball
PA’s Hofer signs with Clippers
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles forward Lenora Hofer signed a letter of intent this week to play basketball at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia.
The Clippers finished seventh in the NWAACC West Region with a 5-11 record (7-19 overall).
As a senior this season, Hofer helped the Roughriders to the state tournament this year.
