PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles sophomore Maddie Boe showed no drop off from last season, pacing the Roughriders’ attack with two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Port Townsend.
Emma Smith and Sierra Robinson added scores as Port Angeles downed the Redhawks.
Boe, the North Olympic Peninsula scoring leader and All-Peninsula MVP as a sophomore in 2013, scored in the 20th minute off of an assist from Cami Raber.
She added her second goal just after halftime on Smith’s assist.
Boe returned the favor, assisting on Smith’s goal in the 53rd minute.
Robinson scored the final goal in the 73rd minute on an assist from Kennedy Mason.
The Riders (1-0, 1-0) host Chimacum on Thursday.
Port Townsend coach Colin Foden was happy with his team’s play in Thursday’s game.
“Seven of the 11 [players] are freshmen or sophomores but they played with an intensity and physicality that was really inspiring,” he said.
“The team will undoubtedly get better but it’s hard to imagine how they could put more effort into their play.”
Malia Henderson made more than 25 saves in goal for the Redhawks.
Port Townsend (0-2) hosts Kingston on Tuesday.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles stayed perfect on the season with what Roughriders coach Gil Stockton termed “a convincing victory” against the Trojans.
“Every one of the players worked hard for their best play of the season,” Stockton said.
Stockton said No. 1 singles player Janson Pederson received the match/team ball for terrific play against a state-ranked opponent.
Pederson fell in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to Olympic’s Ty Loan.
“The match was a treat to watch with outstanding play by both players and a quiet determination and grace by Pederson,” Stockton said.
Port Angeles (2-0, 3-0) visits Klahowya on Tuesday.

QUILCENE — The Rangers swept the inter-county contest with the Cowboys 25-17, 25-20, 25-23.
“[We] played well against Chimacum, using more of our hitting options and covering better,” Quilcene coach Joni Crowell said of Thursday’s match.
“Strong serving from Chimacum was beneficial and working on our serve-receive and moving into transition, as well as working on adjusting to deeper hard serves.
“We had a strong net presence from senior Samantha Rae and freshman Katie Love.
Rae totaled three aces, eight kills and three digs and was 7 for 11 serving.
Love had seven kills and a dig.
Crowell said Alex Johnsen led in serving at more than 90 percent.
Sophomore Taylor Burnston recorded the Rangers lone block.
Megan Weller added eight digs, four assists and a kill and was 5 for 6 serving.
Katie Bailey was 14 for 16 on serve, with three aces, three kills and five digs and Allison Jones had 17 assists, three kills, two aces and was 10 for 14 serving.
Quilcene (1-1) hosts Mount Rainier Lutheran in its SeaTac 1B League opener Tuesday.

PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders dropped a nonleague contest to the Wolves 26-24, 12-25, 16-25, 13-25.
Elizabeth DeFrang had seven kills and two aces, while teammate Nizhoni Wheeler had five kills and three aces for Port Angeles.
Alyssa Wetzler led the team with 14 digs in Thursday’s match, and Emily Johnson led the team in assists with 20, and added two aces.
“The girls came out strong with lots of energy and hustle,” Riders coach Christine Halberg said.
“They displayed huge improvement since Tuesday’s jamboree in regards to ball control and energy.
“We need to work on sustaining that level of play consistently throughout the match.”
Port Angeles (0-1) visits Kingston on Tuesday.

Port Angeles 135, Bremerton 65
PORT ANGELES — Six Port Angeles swimmers earned six state qualifying times and 12 district qualifying times as the Roughriders won big against the Knights.
Port Angeles placed first in 11 of 12 events and outpointed Bremerton in every event.
Carter Juskevich qualified for state with wins in the 200 medley relay and 500 free relay, in 2 minutes, 5.40 seconds and 5:41.16, respectively.
Jaine Macias won the 200 individual medley in 2:23.02 and claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.52.
Taylor Beebe won the 100 back stroke in 1:05.65.
The 200 medley relay team of Beebe, Macias, Audra Perrizo and Erin Edwards qualified for state with a win in 2:00.23.
The Riders (1-0) swim at Kingston on Thursday.
Port Townsend 103, North Kitsap 65
PORT TOWNSEND — The Redhawks topped the Vikings in a home meet at Mountain View Pool.
“[It] was a fun and loud meet,” Port Townsend coach Peter Braden said. “Many close swims.”
Camille Ottaway won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle.
Six swimmers competed in their first-ever swim meet including senior Charity Jesionowski, sophomore Kiera Sholty and freshmen Chloe Hatfield, Maisie Gould, Corinne Pierson and Halli Trafton.
Pierson was the top newcomer, with three third-place finishes and one fourth-place finish.
The Redhawks swept the podium in the 100 freestyle, with Chloe Rogers winning the event Ismay Gale in second and Tanner Matthew third.
The Redhawks host Klahowya on Thursday.
