PREP SPORTS: Port Angeles boys tennis rolls past Olympic 6-1; other prep reports

BREMERTON — The Port Angeles boys tennis team responded to two consecutive close losses to North Kitsap and Bremerton with a 6-1 road win over Olympic.

Roughriders coach Gil Stockton said his team played with a “renewed intensity.”

“Realizing that the team would be undefeated this season if only one person/team had won their individual matches for the team win . . . each player made the commitment to work harder and smarter in their respective matches,” Stockton said.

“The team has set a goal to not experience a team loss for the remainder of the season. It will be interesting to see what we are made of.

“When this team decides to play with the skills and intelligence they all possess, they are a force to be reckoned with.”

“I feel confident they will achieve the team goal for the rest of the season.”

Stockton awarded the match ball to the Riders No. 1 doubles team of Alex Brown and Tanner Gochnour for “exhibiting remarkable intensity and focus in their quick 6-0, 6-0 win. It was a treat to watch.”
