VASHON — After second- and third-place showings in its previous two tournaments, Forks came away with its second first-place finish of the year at The Rock Tournament at Vashon Island High School.
With 212 points, the third-ranked Spartans beat second-ranked Blaine by 26 points in the 14-team wrestling tournament.
The Rock Tournament lived up to its reputation as a tough event, with six of the top-20 ranked Class 1A schools competing at Saturday’s event.
Forks’ scoring was led by the first-place finishes of Ricky Barragan and Miguel Morales.
Barragan won the 138-pound weight class with a major decision of 15-2 against Blaine’s Anthony Frey.
Morales, ranked third, won the 285-pound weight class by beating No. 2 Mikey Antczak of Blaine.
With four finalists and only two champions, Forks won the tournament due to its depth.
Forks had 14 wrestlers place in the top six.
Blaine and Zillah, meanwhile, who placed second and third, respectively, each had nine wrestlers who placed in the top six.

Quilcene 53, Crescent 18
QUILCENE — The Rangers beat the Loggers for the second time this season behind 31 points from Megan Weller.
Weller, who has missed Quilcene’s previous game due to illness, also had eight steals and five rebounds.
“[We] came out in the first quarter pressing and were able to create a lot of turnovers and convert on them,” Rangers coach Briana Weller said of Saturday’s game.
“The girls executed a solid defensive effort again.”
Sammy Rae had a solid game in the post and finished with 11 rebounds, four assist and three points.
Bailey Kieffer added nine points and seven rebounds; Brooke Rainer scored six points; and Katlyn Hitt finished with three points and six rebounds.
“This was a game that allowed for the entire roster a lot of playing time,” Briana Weller said.
“Anytime we can get our secondary into the game and allow them real game opportunities, it benefits our entire program.”

Sequim 75, Npire 53
SEATTLE — The Wolves finally picked up a win in their final game of the Tournament of Champions Holiday Classic at Franklin High School of Australia Npire.
Alex Barry scored 23 points for Sequim and Anthony Pinza had a double-double with 11 points and 12 assists.
Perhaps most importantly, Rory Kallappa got back on track after struggling offensively. Kallappa scored 21 points on 8 of 10 shooting, including 5 for 5 from 3-point range.
Erik Christensen added nine points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Barry also had a team-high 11 rebounds and three steals.
Sequim (4-1 Olympic League, 6-3 overall) is off until resuming its league schedule at home against North Kitsap (3-2, 4-3) next Tuesday.
Forks 42, Mary M. Knight 39
OCEAN SHORES — The Spartans beat the Owls at the North Beach Invite on Saturday.
Leo Gonzales led Forks with 12 points and Colton Raben had 10, but neither of the Spartans’ top scorers had a single point at halftime.
Mary M. Knight went into intermission with a 16-12 lead after holding Forks to two first-quarter points.
Gonzales and Raben got going in the second half as the Spartans led 28-22 after three quarters.
Rather than put the Owls away, though, Forks let them hang around.
“We just maintained that lead instead of putting our foot on the gas,” Spartans coach Rick Gooding said.
Gooding said his team took a step back after showing improvement in Friday’s loss to Tacoma Baptist.
“We kind of stalled out,” he said.
Forks (1-3 Evergreen League, 3-6 overall) returns to league play Friday with a home game against Rainier (2-1, 2-3).
