PREP SPORTS: Chimacum falls to Charles Wright in girls soccer; other prep reports

CHIMACUM — The young Chimacum girls soccer team fell to Charles Wright in Nisqually League action at Chimacum High School.

The Tarriers received three goals from Kristina Spaur and two from Erin Fogerty.

The Cowboys next play at Vashon Island today.

Clallam Bay 3, Port Angeles C 2

CLALLAM BAY — The Bruins beat the Roughriders C Team in five sets 26-24, 20-25, 25-9, 27-25, 15-12.

Clallam Bay coach Kelli Wilson praised her team’s teamwork in Monday’s match.

“The varsity [team] continues to work on movement with out the ball,” Wilson said.

“All in all, I’m proud of how the [players] continue to improve their game.”

As a team, the Bruins had a 75 percent serving percentage.

Kendra Anderson was perfect serving, and Zeria Signore was 88 percent.

Molly McCoy contributed four kills to the win.

Clallam Bay plays at Neah Bay on Thursday.

Crescent 3, Sequim JV 1

SEQUIM — The Loggers overcame a slow start to pull out a four-set win over the Wolves JV squad.

Sequim took the first set 25-17, but Crescent dominated the final three sets.

“It’s good to see the team get better,” Loggers coach Alex Baker said.

“They’re starting round into form.”

Junior Shannon Williams was 7 for 9 serving for Crescent (4-2) with two aces, four blocks, five tips and six kills.

Baker said Meghan Shamp gave the Loggers “great weakside hitting.” Shamp finished with 8/9 serving with an ace and three kills.

Senior Devanie Christie served 14/19 with six aces 15 assists and one tip for point.

Larissa Garrison, made great passes in her first match at libero, and served a perfect 16 for 16 with an ace.

Cross country location change

The location of today’s cross country between Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend has been moved from Lincoln Park to Discovery Bay Golf Course in Port Townsend due to the Lincoln Park long house demolition.
