BREMERTON — Boys and girls basketball players from the North Olympic Peninsula competed at the 12th annual West Sound Senior High School All-Star Basketball games at Olympic College.
In the girls game, Port Angeles’ Maddy Hinrichs’ eight points led the Cascade squad in its 47-38 loss to Puget Sound on Tuesday night.
Krista Johnson, also of Port Angeles, scored six points for Cascade, while Port Townsend’s Jewel Johnson and Trish Reeves scored five points each.
Roughriders Kylee Jeffers and Bailee Jones added four and two points, respectively.
Port Townsend’s Jayde Richardson had three and Rilke Rutenbeck contributed two points. Sequim’s Alexas Besand scored two.
Bremerton’s Sawyer Kluge had 10 points and 15 rebounds for Puget Sound. North Kitsap’s Kristin Brown led all scorers with 11 points.
Krista Johnson won the 3-point shooting contest, beating out Central Kitsap’s Tiffani Ferrell in the final.
Hinrichs took second in the hot-shot shooting contest, falling to Kingston’s Napu Fontes.
The teams were coached by Peninsula College head coach Alison Crumb and Olympic College coach Chloe Mosey.

Port Townsend’s Paul Spaltenstein, Cody Russell, Jacob King and Skyler Coppenrath all played for the losing Cascade team.
King scored four points, Coppenrath and Russell had three and Spaltenstein finished with two points.
Cascade was led by South Kitsap’s Caulin Bakalarski and Ryley Callaghan, who scored 19 and 14 points, respectively.
Bremerton’s Deonte Dixon, the Olympic League MVP, paced the winning Puget Sound team with 17 points. Austin Murray of Central Kitsap added 15 points.
Peninsula College’s Mitch Freeman coached the Cascade team and Mike Gurske of Olympic College coached Puget Sound.

SEQUIM — The Wolves hosted the Cougars for a jamboree match at Cedars at Dungeness and had a nice performance from its young team.
The match was stroke play with each team counting its top five scores, played on the par-37 front nine.
“Our girls did very well against a strong 4A Narrows League team,” Sequim coach Garrett Smithson said of Tuesday’s match.
“Alex McMenamin and Kelly Anders played in their first varsity matches ever and both performed amazingly.”
McManamin topped the Wolves and had the second-best score of the mathc with a 42, while Anders shot a 62.
Also for Sequim, which has not seniors, Kailee Price finished with a 54, Cecilee Wech had a 57, Brianna Kettel carded a 64 and Megan O’Mera shot 66.
“This is going to be an exciting season for a young team,” Smithson said.
“I believe we have a good chance to be league champs.”
Central Kitsap’s Katie Lee, who fourth at the 4A state meet last year, had match’s top score with a 41.
Carly Bergsma shot a 51 for the Cougars, Jordan Black a 53, Ryah Cook and Matty Wolfe had a 54 and Sami Evans shot 69.
