PREP SPORTS: All-League selections for Chimacum, Forks, Port Townsend

CHIMACUM — Chimacum’s senior shortstop Shanya Nisbet shared Olympic League 1A Division Softball Co-MVP honors with Coupeville’s Katrina McGranahan in voting by league coaches.

Nisbet’s Co-MVP selection headlined four all-league selections for the Cowboys.

Chimacum won the Olympic League 1A Division for the third consecutive season, claimed the West Central District title and advanced to the Class 1A state tournament for the third straight season.

She was joined by twin sister and Chimacum’s catcher Mechelle Nisbet, senior pitcher Holly Snider, sophomore first baseman Grace Yaley and junior second baseman Bradyn Nelson.

The Nisbet sisters have signed to play basketball and softball together at Olympic College.

Port Townsend’s Jenna Carson was selected to the team as a utility player.

The Redhawks also received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Olympic League 1A soccer

CHIMACUM — Chimacum senior Carter McCleary shared the Olympic League 1A Division’s Boys Soccer MVP Award with Klahowya’s Jacob Sargent in voting conducted by league coaches.

Cowboys senior Allan Hilt was the other Chimacum player selected to the All-Olympic League first team.

Three Port Townsend players made the first team: seniors Jack Kingsley and Ryan Botkin and sophomore Zach Dempsey.

Chimacum received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

CHIMACUM — Four Chimacum baseball players were selected by league coaches to the Olympic League 1A Division All-League first team.

Senior Lane Dotson was selected as a utility player, junior Matthew Bainbridge was picked as a third baseman, sophomore Cole Dotson made the team as an outfielder and sophomore Issac Purser was picked as a pitcher.

Klahowya senior Dylan Zuber was voted league MVP.

Klahowya coach Dan Zuber was selected Coach of the Year.

Port Townsend received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

FORKS — Forks landed two players on the All-Evergreen League All-League Softball Team.

Freshman Catcher Rian Peters and junior outfielder Bailey Queen were voted to the second team by league coaches.

Montesano’s Samantha Stanfield and Elma’s Peyton Elliott headlined the team.

Stanfield, who pitched the Evergreen 1A League and District IV 1A champions to the state 1A title, was named the Defensive MVP. Elliott was tapped as the Offensive MVP for the league.
