PREP SOFTBALL: Sequim stymied by Olympic’s No. 2 pitcher

Port Angeles blasts Kingston 15-4

SEQUIM —Sequim couldn’t take advantage of an Olympic softball team playing without 2022 Olympic League first-team pitcher Brenda Morrison at home Thursday, falling 4-1 to the Trojans.

The Wolves only mustered four hits against Trojans’ No. 2 pitcher Roslyn Tate led by Taylee Rome’s two-hit game. Rome doubled and singled for Sequim while Laney Vig and Lexie each added singles.

Vig gave Sequim chances to win the game in the circle, scattering seven hits and allowing four runs in seven innings of work.

The Wolves (4-2, 4-3) host rival Port Angeles at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Port Angeles 15, Kingston 4

KINGSTON — Taylor Worthington went 4 for 5 with a two-run home run and Lily Halberg added a 3-run bomb as the Roughriders pounded the Buccaneers on Thursday.

Natalie Robinson had a perfect day at the plate, going 3 for 3 for Port Angeles, while Ava-Anne Sheahan was 2 for 2 with a triple and Lexie Smith went 2 for 3 with a double.

Heidi Leitz went six innings in the circle to earn the win. Leitz allowed four runs on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

Cheyenne Zimmer closed out the win for Port Angeles, which is ranked No. 6 in the first Class 2A RPI ranking.
