PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles is alone at the top of the Olympic League softball standings after its 8-0 win over Olympic at Dry Creek Elementary School.
With Sequim’s 3-1 loss to Kingston, the Roughriders (9-0, 9-2) are the last unbeaten team in the league.
Port Angeles started slow against the Trojans on Friday, scoring one run in the first inning before putting the game away with three in the fourth and five in the sixth.
Sarah Steinman and Nizhoni Wheeler combined to hold Olympic to two hits.
Steinman pitched five innings with six strikeouts, while Wheeler fanned five in two innings.
Ashlee Reid and Alyssa Wetzler each had two hits for the Riders and Wetzler, Steinman, Tori Kuch, Carley Gouge and Lauren Lunt each drove in a run.
Port Angeles finished the week with a 4-0 record, including a doubleheader sweep over third-place Bremerton and a victory over fourth-place Kingston.
The Roughriders are on a nine-game winning streak that spans more than a month.
Port Angeles plays at North Mason (2-8) on Wednesday and hosts Port Townsend (1-6) on Friday before a matchup with Sequim on Monday, April 28.

KINGSTON — The Wolves were limited to four hits in the loss, leaving Port Angeles as the only unbeaten Olympic League softball team.
The game was tied 1-1 until the Buccaneers (5-3) scored in the bottom of the fifth. They added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, and Sequim’s typically potent offense was unable to respond.
The loss is the Wolves’ first to an Olympic League team in the regular season since the 2012 season.
The Wolves (7-1, 9-2) visit North Kitsap (4-5) on Monday.

Quilcene 12, Oakville 2
QUILCENE — Megan Weller took advantage of her first start at pitcher, going four innings and allowing just two hits and one run with four strikeouts as the Rangers won big Friday.
“Megan’s pitching has improved considerably over the past year,” Quilcene coach Mark Thompson said.
Weller helped herself at the plate as well, going 3 for 3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.
Slugger Samantha Rae socked her fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot that capped a five-run second inning for the Rangers. Rae was 2 for 3 with four RBIs.
Allison Jones was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Bailey Kieffer was 1 for 1 with two runs and an RBI.
The Rangers (2-0, 9-1) visit Muckleshoot on Tuesday.

QUILCENE — Alexis Gray slammed a two-run home run to straightaway center field to break a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning and put the Rangers on top for good.
“I liked how balanced our offense was today,” Quilcene coach Mark Thompson said. “A lot of girls contributed.”
Thompson said Thursday’s nonleague meeting featured a matchup between “possibly the best [Class] 1B players in the state,” in Quilcene’s Sammy Rae and Wishkah’s Teagan Louthan.
Rae got the best of Louthan once again, striking out 12 batters and allowing three earned runs.
It was the third time the pair have faced each other in the past two seasons, with Rae winning all three games.
Celsea Hughes was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and Katie Bailey was 1 for 3 with an RBI for Quilcene.
Rae hit a double and scored a run to help her own cause.
