PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls softball team won at least a share of the Olympic League championship with a 10-0 shutout over North Mason.
With Friday’s win, the Roughriders have a league record of 12-1, one game ahead of Olympic (11-2). Port Angeles has one regular season game left, hosting Kingston (7-6) at 4:15 p.m. today at Dry Creek Elementary. Olympic hosts North Mason (7-5).
Port Angeles beat Kingston 5-4 earlier this season and Kingston beat North Mason 15-5, so the Riders can expect a stiff challenge.
Kennedy Rognlien and Heidi Leitz both had big games for the Riders. Rognlien was 2-for-4 with a home run, while Leitz was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run Leitz also pitched the complete game shutout, allowing six hits and striking out 14.
Lexie Smith was also 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, while sophia Ritchie was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Abby Rudd hit a double and drove in a run.
Friday’s game was senior night for seniors Leitz, Smith, Ava-Anne Sheahan, and Abby Kimball.
After Monday’s conclusion of the regular season, the Riders begin play in the District 3 tournament in Lacey as either a No. 1 or No. 2 seed. Port Angeles (15-2-1 overall) is ranked No. 4 in the state in Ratings Percentage Index.

Baseball Quilcene 6, Rainier Chr. 3
QUILCENE — The Quilcene baseball team won its 1B district tournament opener, getting all six of its runs in a big fourth inning en route to a 6-3 victory over Rainier Christian.
Oliver Hopkins was the star of Saturday’s win, going 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple, a run scored, an RBI and two walks. He also pitched six solid innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out six. Eli Allen pitched an inning of relief, striking out all three batters he faced.
Logan Carstensen also had a hit and an RBI, while Jayden Minish had a hit, four stolen bases and a run scored.
Quilcene (11-2) plays in the district semifinals against Northwest Christian at Quilcene at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

NAPAVINE — Forks’ season came to a close in the loser-out opener of the District 44 p.m. 2B tournament, falling to Rainier 6-3.
Landen Olson had a big game in defeat, going 2-for-3 with a home run. He also pitched six innings, allowing eight hits and four earned runs while striking out 10. Lane Helvey also had a double and a run scored.
Forks finished its season with a record of 8-10.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles and Sequim both play in District 3 2A tournament games today.
Port Angeles (8-6, 9-10-1), the third-place team in the Olympic League, hosts a game at 4 p.m. today at Civic Field against Eatonville (7-7, 8-10), the fifth-place team out of the South Puget Sound League.
Sequim (7-7, 8-12) plays at Olympic (7-7, 11-9) at 4:15 p.m. They were tied for fourth place in the Olympic League.
Both games are loser-out contests, with the winners moving on to double elimination.
If Port Angeles wins, the Roughriders play at Steilacoom (11-3, 14-5) at 4 p.m. Tuesday. If Sequim wins, the Wolves play at Bainbridge (14-0, 16-4) at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
